Mini getaway Nov. where to go?

We have a 4 day weekend in  Nov. and we'd like to do a short flight from NJ getaway....we were thinking New Oleans? Charleston? Any suggestions? preferences?

Re: Mini getaway Nov. where to go?

  • We did a long weekend in NOLA in May.  It was the perfect amount of time.  Lots of great food.  We flew out of EWR, I think the flight was under 3 hours.
  • We just did a long weekend in NOLA. I agree with the PP, it was the perfect amount of time.

  • any hotel suggestions?

  • Last Nov DH and I went on a long wkd to NOLA and had a great time.  The weather is great there in Nov, good food, and live bands every where on Bourban street.

  • Savannah, Ga.
  • Can't really advise on New Orleans or Charleston during November. I love Charleston in the spring however! Is this before or after thanksgiving because I have a recommendation if you're traveling after thanksgiving day. Check out Kansas City, They have the Country Club Plaza (www.countryclubplaza.com) with beautiful holiday lights, amazing restaurants and shops. (they're getting an H&M, already have Tiffany's, Saks, Halls (home of Hallmark!), Anthropolgie, UO, etc....) There's been talk of a Prada, but who knows! There's a great downtown district with clubs (power & light district) and more restaurants. Also has Longview Lake with a big holiday lights display (and fireworks depending on when you time your trip) I may be a tad partial, but KC during late november is great. It also is chilly/cold, but usually doesn't get snow until December or later! Just a thought. If you're committed to NO or Charleston however, I'd go with Charleston.
  • bermuda?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:
Alison's book recommendations, favorite quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • What about St. Pete or Orlando Florida?

My H and I love doing the allegiant flights to there and spending a long weekend.  In Orlando we hit up Discovery Cove and Sea World and its just enough fun and relaxation!!!

Also, from NJ you could probably get a quick flight to somewhere in the Caribbean, no?

  • Another vote for Savannah.
  • We do the carribean a lot so trying to avoid that...going to bermuda next summer...not a huge fla. fan...but i am going to look into Ga.

    thanks ladies

  • Hi Meghanbrid,

December is a wonderful time of the year no matter where you are. It's one of the World's most fascinating cities. After spending a weekend down there, I would urge you to go, too.
And yes, it was fun. If you're looking for a place that's happy to see you, this is it.
    Visit Bourbon Street, -Jackson Square
    -Cafe du Monde
    -French Market (flea market)
    -Lafitte Blacksmith Bar (Bourbon Street)
    -Cats Meow Bar (Bourbon Street)
    -Blaine Kern Mardi Gras World

The Quarter is beautiful, and fascinating, and has some great restaurants and shops, but it's also the main tourist area of the city. Never leaving the Quarter is a little like visiting New York and never leaving Times Square.
