Vet update:

Murphy's doctor just called with the blood test results. Turns out Murphy has diabetes. Not the end of the world, but I was hoping for something like a virus that some antibiotics would knock out. Actually, I was hoping for nothing, but I'll settle for treatable over hopeless.

The doctor said he's going to need an insulin shot every day, but since he's still fairly young, there's hope that it'll be reversible.  In a week or so, I'll get the script for the needles and insulin, and he'll show me how much, where and when to give Murphster his shot, and he should be much happier shortly. I'm so releived! Now to just get over my terrifying fear of needles :-/

Re: Vet update:

  • I'm glad he's okay! You are such a good mom for giving him the shots. That is HUGE. I'm already proud of you and you haven't even started yet!

  • Thanks, Kare. I was so scared that it was going to be something terminal. I was able to save his life with a pricey surgery when he was a kitten, but I was single and living at home with no bills, so it wasn't too much of a hardship. Now, it would've been much more difficult.. I still would have found a way, but I'm glad I don't have to.
  • i'm glad it's manageable! sorry you have to go through that though.

  • I'm sorry to hear he has been sick. I hope you can get his diabetes under control. Hopefully once he and you get use to the shots it will be no big deal.
