Let's talk about fall

I can't wait.

I saw Thanksgiving dishes in Hallmark the other day.

I'm done with this heat.  Although I hate the snow, I think I may hate the heat more.

(just wait until Jan when I'm saying I'm done with this snow).

  • I love the fall, but if I have to pick one, I'll take summer over winter, I hate the cold.

  • I say winter which for most of you really is fall weather.  Our winter's "usually" are mild unlike this past year.  For the sake of being PC - I like fall.  I'm done with the triple digit heat for this year.  We are at day 29 in a row and will most likely break the #1 record of 42 days....yayConfused

    PCOS and Endo

Ovarian drilling and endo removed 1/3/12
    BFP - 3/27/12
    Beta's 11, 14, 57, 637, 2800
Sono showed no baby and teeny tiny sac. Waiting to M/C naturally.

  • This week's Hobby Lobby weekly e-mail featured Christmas ornaments. Freaking crazy.

I just want fall to be here. I'm sick of it being 100+. We had ONE day this month that was below 100, and I think someone said the average high has been like, 104 the entire month [which is a good 10 degrees above average]. My hometown quit counting the number of 100+ days after it reached 30 earlier this month, and there's talk of highs near 115?!?! Stupid summer. I'm not a fan.

I'll just be happy with highs in the 80s. That's all I want right now.

Not bad.  I finished all 4 mice I wanted.

    image

The pastel one is for my friend's "sprinkle" & the blue ones are for the 2 nephews and honorary nephew.  I already gave one to my sister's son.

I need to take a lesson on using double-pointed needles and/or a circular needle and knitting socks.  I have both sorts of needles.  A friend gave me a kit to make slipper socks that I want to do.  It's got instructions, but I want to start it with someone so I don't mess it up and waste yarn.

And then for my birthday, my sis & BIL got me a knitting kit of a really fine merino wool yarn and a zillion tiny, skinny knitting needles to make nice, fine wool socks.  Only it didn't come with a pattern or anything and I can't find anything good (and simple) online for a fine wool like that, so I want a lesson for those too.

In the meantime, I have the yarn I used for the mice, which is a soft acrylic, and a couple skeins of a squiggly, fluffy, aqua-to-blue mottled yarn that I want to use with it to make blankets for the nephews.  I'm thinking of doing 4" squares and then sewing them together, so it won't be much different from the mice.

I really do love it.  I'd be knitting right now if I didn't have this damned brief to write.  I don't wanna.  I wanna be knitting.

That is really awesome!  I'm really considering starting.

  • Wow, yea this heat really is something. I dislike the cold though, so I can't really complain to much about this heat. But man it is hot! I hate to even go to the grocery store because then I have to get back in a hot car. Ughh

I seriously recommend it.  It's such a nice way to spend time, easy to do in front of the TV and stuff, or just when you've got a few minutes to kill, and I love seeing progress and then finished products.

  • I am looking forward to the cool mornings. It's usually warm in the afternoons, but first thing in the morning, there's always that slight chill. What I wouldn't give for a chill right now...

Yea I really want to try and make some shorties or longies for R.  Especially for this winter to hang around the house in.  I think that kind of project will take me a very, very long time to learn.

  • I prefer summer heat to winter cold any day! I hate hate hate being cold and I feel like I can never get warn enough in the winter.... even FL winter. haha And I hate piling on the clothes. I would much rather hand out in shorts, a tank, and sandals... or a bathing suit at the pool. Really, the only thing I hate about summer is getting into a super hot car after it's been sitting in a parking lot. Stifling!

I do like the fall holidays though and how spirited people get between the holidays and sports.

Alyssa and Larissa - I was seriously thinking last night that I should start knitting when I was spending way too much $$ on wool skirts and soakers for Margot. I might have to look into it too.... I'm sure it would take me a while to work up to a skirty!! haha

  • Kristen & Alyssa,

Check out http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternIndex.fcgi?s=Knit&pageLength= for tons of free knitting patterns, from beginner to experienced.

As it is, I'm home sick today - just feel crappy and have a file home to do a brief that's due Friday, so here I can do it with no interruptions.  So I'm knitting while I read the file (I can actually knit without looking!) to start the afghan I want to make for my nephew.  I'm doing an easy version - 143 squares, each one 4", and then I'll sew them together.  50 in a light mottled blue, 93 in the same dark blue I used for the mice.  I'm 1.5 squares in so far.  Figure I can finish 2 for Christmas, one for each nephew.

  • Oh, and as for the weather, I've been told I need to live in Hawaii, where it's 75 & sunny year 'round.  I hate extremes of temperature.  In heat I get lethargic and don't feel well.  In cold, my muscles all tighten up and get sore, and it gives me hiccoughs.  I'm a fan of jeans-and-t-shirt weather.
