Ever applied for a Gov't job?
I have to take a civil service test in a 2 weeks. Just curious of the process/timeline I'm looking at. The website/job posting isn't much help.

I think mine took about 3 to 4 months. Also are you being hired based on the exam? I was hired prior to it and had to pass the exam to keep it (and other things, such as beat everyone else on the list, etc.) Some gov't job also only allow you to start work on one day per month - so if it's Aug 1st that it the start day, then you have to wait until Sept 1, etc.
Good luck! But honestly, everyone I know in gov't work wants out.
Its in a process. I have to take the test and depending on my score I either move on to interview or don't. It is for Immigration services doing paperwork. (Not ICE)
This will all depend on whether or not they certify the list. My job will give exams and not cert for almost a year. We did get a notification when the list was certified as well as your position on the list, so at least we were kept informed.
I started working there in Sept. I took my exam in August of the following year. Then I was not officially made permanent until December of the year I took the exam.
Wow, that is a long time. I like the job, but I am still actively looking at others. However, I would really want that job.
FH took the fire fighter civil service exam (he was looking for ANY job at the time) and after he had already found his dream job, they came back like 8 months later and offered him to move forward in the process. He obviously didn't take it, but that timeline was a PITA.
