Highlights?

Lowlights?

Cook/eat anything great?

Any other comments/vents/confessions?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • It was good!

Highlights - probably the pool w/ DD and DH on Saturday - it was a new pool for us and really nice.  DD was like a fish and swam for like 3 hours!  I had 2 nestie GTGs this weekend and they were fun too - and I got to meet Bobby!!

Lowlights - yesterday - was a fun, but a bit of clusterfuck for me.  I was late for the book club b/c DD got very clingy at my mom's then my GPS wouldn't work, then DD ended up taking a really late nap at my moms which messed up the rest of my day (meeting DH and some friends) but the GPS malfunction from earlier totally drained my phone - so I could only text DH once.  It was all fine, but very stressful for me.

I watched Girl w/ the Pearl Earing the other night and really liked it.

We had some good crabs at Nick's yesterday and DD was realy into them.  She ate pretty much everything I picked for her.

  • Highlights? Playing with a feral kitten who used to be terrified of me, getting to one of the horse barns and finding that the neighbors herd of goats had gotten loose and had taken over the horse field, seeing one of my college friends

Lowlights? Getting stuck in horrible beltway traffic on the way to and from National Harbor on Saturday night b/c of the soccer game at Fed Ex Field.

Read any good books or see any good movies? Reading House Rules now and really like it. We were supposed to watch Rango and/or The Switch this weekend but ran out of time.

Cook/eat anything great? Had a great Irish Sausage Roll and Bread Pudding out. Yesterday I made some delicious Pecan Pie Bars.

Any other comments/vents/confessions? I wish I was home right now watching last night's True Blood episode.
  • Highlights? I discovered a replacement for Chic fil a's banana pudding milkshake. A Rita's Blendini with banana ice, vanilla custard and Nilla wafers. Yum. Also, the playgroup seeing some nesties and their cute kiddos!

Lowlights? Started having abdominal pain on Saturday night and still have it. Not sure if I should go to a doc, go to ER? Going to see how I feel today.

Read any good books or see any good movies? Started reading The Help. So far, so good.

Cook/eat anything great? See my Rita's find above. Amazing!

Any other comments/vents/confessions? I slept until 10:00 this morning since I wasn't feeling well. Fortunately, B just snuggled in right next to me and did the same.

  • Highlights? The playdate at Storyville was a lot of fun.  DH finally got the privacy fence up on the deck. I'm very proud of him. He worked all weekend on this project.

Lowlights? DD is teething, so she didn't sleep at all last night. Poor thing is not herself today.

Read any good books or see any good movies? I really never got a chance to finish up reading my library book. Oh well.

Cook/eat anything great?  I made cherry muffins on Saturday morning. Everyone seem to rave about them.

Any other comments/vents/confessions? Is it Thursday yet? I took the day off to spend w/DD. We may go the Zoo depending on the weather.

  • Highlights? We had a quiet weekend. DH normally works both days but he was off which was nice.

Lowlights? Kind of disappointed that we didn't work on the 2nd bedroom. We really need to get in there and purge purge purge!

I did however work on the living room organization during the day Saturday. The before and after pics make me happy. The flow of stuff in there wasn't working for me anymore and I am glad I got things switched.

Read any good books or see any good movies? DH picked up Season of the Witch from Redbox. It was interesting/strange. I am so glad we didn't waste $10.50 pp at the theater to see it.

Cook/eat anything great? Not really. Things haven't been sounding/tasting very good to me lately. Don't know if it has to do with hormones or what.

Any other comments/vents/confessions? None that I can think of right now.

  • Highlights?I had a good weekend.  It was relaxing but we got a lot done at home.  I'm happier when we go to work with a lot accomplished.  One highlight was grooming Keefe.  I let his coat go for a bit to see what it is looking like as his new undercoat is coming in.  He seemed to miss grooming because after we brushed for a long time, he still kept going back to the table.  The other highlight was that DH wanted to go to an open house for a new construction community.  I'm excited about the possibility of this maybe down the road.

Lowlights?  My only lowlight was that I really wanted to go use my coupon at Dairy Queen for a buy one get one free blizzard, but DH didn't want to go because we don't have any Dairy Queens near us.

Read any good books or see any good movies? We watched The Shawshank Redemption again, love that movie.

Cook/eat anything great?  We made chocolate chip cookies last night, yum!

Any other comments/vents/confessions? The plan is that one month from today I will be finishing my Ph.D.  I can't believe it's actually going to happen.  And of course I'm stressed about the lack of a job.

Lowlights? Started having abdominal pain on Saturday night and still have it. Not sure if I should go to a doc, go to ER? Going to see how I feel today.

This was me last week...I went to the ER with terrible pain and the runs and they told me I was dehydrated and probably had some sort of virus.  I don't have pain anymore, but am still not 100% better so I hope that if this is what's going on with you, that it's a quick stomach bug.  Seems to be going around from what I gather.

Highlights? doing a little bit of shopping with DH Friday night and Saturday morning.  We had fun while we were out being silly with each other.  Seeing my new recruit in action...she's go pizazz! Oh, and last night I got a text from my BFF that while she was giving her daughter (11 months) a bath, she pooped in the tub.  It made me laugh.

Lowlights? Being ridiculously busy and getting minimal sleep.

Read any good books or see any good movies? Watched The Tourist on Demand and Friends with Benefits online...both were pretty lame.

Cook/eat anything great? I made dinner Saturday night for friends and cooked creamy pesto chicken with linguine and made some garlic bites...both were awesome and I can't wait to eat leftovers today!

Any other comments/vents/confessions? vent...DH has been dealing with some health issues and it's really taken a toll on me.  I've become sort of recluse and sometimes don't even want to spend time with him because it's it's emotionally tiring to be around.   He's finally listening to his doctor and being proactive about seeing some specialists but I need for things to happen sooner than appointments 2 and 3 months out.

  • Highlights? Went to Acadiana for a "last" date night with DH Saturday. It was everything I hoped it would be and I stuffed myself like a glutton. Last night getting ready for bed we noticed that the baby has dropped...there is a definite difference in the shape and placement of my belly from lunch to bedtime...it's August! He's measuring big so he could be early or big. We'll see!!Lowlights? Tried to put up curtains in the nursery/spare room but the curtain rod fell off the wall because we live in a crappy apartment with plaster walls. Seriously, I've never had this much trouble putting things up on the walls! So I may have been a bit grumpy yesterday.Read any good books or see any good movies? Still reading Guernsey Literary Society. It's really good but I've been trying to finish things up (anxious/nesting, anyone?). I could probably finish it in an afternoon at this point but I'm trying to stretch it out for once.
Cook/eat anything great? Acadiana. Fried green tomatoes, grillades and grits (jalepeno and cheese grits!), and pecan tart with praline sauce for dessert. Oh, and I totally had a whole cup of regular coffee with dessert. I may have been making yummy noises while I drank it. :)Any other comments/vents/confessions? I still have so much to do before I can drop everything and head to the hospital...I'll be full term Thursday so I'm trying to be prepared for anything. Part of me is ok if he comes after Thursday and part of me really hopes he waits so my parents can be here. Since they live in AL they can't drive up until the 27th...of course, if I go early they'll start driving once I go into labor. I've been in tears over the fact that my parents may not be there right after he's born.  But I don't want them to miss out on my brother's senior year of high school either (he starts school the 15th). Can't have everything and I know it will be fine...just wish we were closer to my family.

  • Highlights? Dinner at Paladar last night and watching a movie with DH.

Lowlights? Thinking about the ten days of work I have comng up.

Read any good books or see any good movies? The Adjustment Bureau. Loved it.

Cook/eat anything great? We went to Menchies for dessert last night. Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt with mini pb cups, pb sauce, and hot fudge. Amazing!!

Any other comments/vents/confessions? We went to HH at Paladar three times in July. Each time, they took $15 off the bill "for my birthday". The first time, it was my birthday and we knew they did that. The second time, we were surprised but didn't say anything. Last night, I felt bad so I mentioned it to the bartender. He said the computer is doing it automatically for some reason and he said to enjoy it! ?

  •  Highlights?

Doing absolutely nothing. And "Beauty and the Beast" was on TV last night.
    Lowlights?

My husband came home much later than he said he would on Friday night, and it caused a bit of a tiff. Everything is OK now, though.Read any good books or see any good movies?

I'm currently reading "Maine" by J. Courteney Sullivan. I loved her book, "Commencement," but this one isn't drawing my interest as much.Cook/eat anything great?

I made a bunch of seasonally inappropriate foods -- beef stroganoff, lasagna soup, veggie enchiladas. I think I was just going a touch crazy, as our house was hot as hades.Any other comments/vents/confessions?

I need a new job. Seriously.
  • Highlights? My Mom came up on Friday and picked DD up from school and took her out to dinner.  It was nice to take my time at the gym and not have to rush to get her in time.

Oh, and we spent Saturday afternoon at the Y.  We dropped DD off in childcare (it was her first time and she loved it!) so that DH and I could each go do our cardio.  After, we grabbed her and went into the basketball court to play for awhile, then watched my husband climb the rock wall and played some air hockey before we left.  It was just nice, free, family time.

Lowlights? I was told on Friday that I'm being laid off due to the lack of activity on the contract for which I was hired.  I wallowed a bit this weekend.

Read any good books or see any good movies?  On Saturday I read "What I Did for Love," which was a cute and fun read.  On Sunday I read "Escape," which was interesting.

Cook/eat anything great?  We went to Famous Dave's for dinner last night to satisfy my craving for BBQ.  I paid for it later with an upset stomach, but dayum were those ribs, chopped pork, jalapeno-corn-mac & cheese and cornbread *awesome*.

Any other comments/vents/confessions?  I got nothin'.
