New approach to weight loss

It is NOT going well. I'm 10 lbs above my pre-baby weight and still 30 lbs overweight. I lost about 6 before Conference but gained it all back from not exercising. I'm losing hope.

Well, I had DH hide the scale. From now on I'm not going by numbers. I'm not allowing myself to weigh until January. It may seem like forever, but I think if I go by the way my clothes fit and how I feel, I might feel more inclined to keep at it. A couple of people said I look like I had lost weight, so even though the scale isn't budging, I think this may be the way to approach it from now on!

I just want to get back into the clothes I wore a couple of years ago and then I will be happy!

  • Sounds like a  good idea Caroline. You need to be healthy not necessarily skinny and if you feel good, have energy and your clothes fit better, then you are on the right track.

Once I have this kid, I need to get to working out/eating better so I can lose some weight myself.

  • I feel your pain. Just remember that you have a husband and baby girl who love you just the way you are. Also remember that while you may be a few pounds heavier than you would like to be, you've got Lucie, who was totally worth the extra pounds.

I'm just preaching to the choir here though - I'm 4 months post partum and have exercised ONCE. I've taken lots of walks, but as far as a real workout,  it's happened once. I fully intend on getting back on a good exercise regimen (want to run a Thanksgiving 10K), but it's too dang hot to do anything!!!!!!

  • That is a good approach Caroline. I know it is hard and I know for me it seems the harder you try the more frustrated you get, so I think your approach is good. I know you can do it!

I am hoping to get back on the wagon as soon as I get the clear.

  • idk about the rest of your mommas, but the after baby body is just not the same. For me I wear 1 or 2 sizes bigger than I did before even though my weight is the same. So i've given up on the sizes of things and just worry about how I feel...believe me, I have a LONG way to go to feel the way I want, but I know don't care what size my pants are as long as I can shop in the regular clothes section! haha

I am mad about my shoes though...no more 6.5s for me.....all those shoes go to waste!
