It's Monday!

Re: It's Monday!

  • It was OK.  Thursday and Friday were the wake/funeral for my grandfather so that wasn't so great, but I'm glad he's at rest now and we're all adjusting to the loss.

Saturday I did some much-needed weeding in the yard.  Later in the day DH and I played volleyball with some friends.

Yesterday I had brunch with my family at Stella and then we went to the SOWA Open Market.  I didn't realize they'd moved it to a new location.  I prefer the old setup.  In the evening we prepped the house for MIL's visit starting tomorrow (i.e. cleaned up some of our crap Stick out tongue). If I'm honest, not really looking forward to having a house guest right now.  But she'll only be here for a couple of nights then heads off on a trip to Nova Scotia before coming back and staying with us for another week or so.

  • We had a pretty low-key weekend which was great. Friday we went to dinner with another couple and then DH and I went to the movies. We saw Cowboys and Aliens (his pick obviously!) - it was pretty good for that type of movie.

Saturday we drove up to the Burlington Mall, walked around and got Chick-fil-a for lunch (this was the real reason for the drive) then went out to dinner with MIL and DH's cousin who came up for the weekend. Then Cousin came over to our place for ice cream and chatting.

Sunday was church, errands and relaxing. I finally got to spend some time sitting in the sun on the porch. And I made a huge batch of Greek Orzo Pasta Salad. Yum!

  • How's your MIL doing, Rock? (If you don't mind me asking.) I hope she's feeling ok, and good luck with the visit!

Our weekend was quiet. Saturday, we'd planned to go see Captain America, but my husband decided he didn't feel like going, which was just fine with me. Instead, he watched tv/played video games while I finished off the books I was reading.  Then we hit up the grocery store, made pizza fondue for dinner, drank a bottle and a half of wine (oops!), and watched Cedar Rapids.   Yesterday, we cleaned a bit, then went to see Horrible Bosses. About an hour in, we were both bored to tears, so we left.  On the plus side, we used discount passes that I'd bought a while back, so it didn't feel like we were out anything. AND we stopped at JP Licks for a pint of ice cream to bring home, so it was a total success, IMO.

  • So busy! I didn't really feel like I had a weekend. I helped host (with the other BMs) my friend's bridal shower Saturday, which meant going to prep food and decor Friday night and early Saturday AM. The groom has an all-star game Saturday evening so we went to that after the shower and all had dinner together after. I was exhausted but couldn't fall asleep and stay asleep until 4am.

Sunday I had to get groceries and tried to relax in the afternoon. Later I met up with my FSIL and the other BMs in her wedding to formally meet them and we all had dinner at the Olive Garden.

This week should be much more relaxing since I won't be stressing about the shower. We're getting our sectional for the basement delivered Wednesday! I will post pictures once we get it into place. Smile

She's doing well, thanks for asking!  I'm probably a terrible person for saying I don't want to host her, but I could just use some down time right now (i.e., it's not specific to her).  It really won't be too bad since she's only here for a couple of nights at first, but it can be stressful trying to make sure she's happy, has the food she wants, etc.  I mean, I can't complain because it's not like she's a horrible house guest or anything, but I think anytime a MIL comes to stay with you can be a little nerve-wracking, you know?

Her biggest concern these days has been whether her hair will grow back a bit before she leaves on her trip Smile  So, yeah, she seems to be doing well and hopefully we'll have nothing but good news in a few months when we she goes back for her follow up appointment with the oncologist.

I was actually thinking this morning that a trip to Burlington Mall is needed this week for some Chick-fi-la...yummy!

  • Rock, I am so sorry for your loss and am thinking of you during this difficult time in your life.

Our weekend went by so fast. We watched a movie on Friday after DS went to bed. It was called Shortbus and was one of those film festival movies. No kidding, porn INCLUDED, I have never seen so much peen in a movie before in my life. The director was obviously peen obsessed.

Saturday we went to dinner at a friend's house. Their 2 y/o is so cute and was playing with DS on the iPad. DS was really into it and figured it out in no time so now I am hitting DH up for Santa to bring DS one this year.

Sunday morning I took pix of one of the local pittie rescues for our calendar contest in rescue but it was a bust, so I have to reschedule. Then we looked at a few houses (nothing worth considering) and visited our friends and their 3 week old baby.

Thanks, Punky.  Both for the thoughts and the laugh! :)

Glad she's doing well! And no, you're not a terrible person. You've had a rough few weeks, and it takes a lot out of you. Plus, no matter how non-intrusive/non-annoying a house guest is, it's still a house guest. I hope it goes smoothly, and you can get some down-time soon!

  • Saturday we had a cook out with friends and it was wonderful. But I accidentally got a little tipsy by 5pm-ish. Woops. I was home and in bed by 8pm lol

I went to a boring baby shower on Sunday, then out to dinner with my cousin. There was a Mariachi band at the restaurant we went to, and DS loved them. He watched them the whole time, and they came to our table to sing to him. The whole restaurant was watching DS watch the band!

  • My weekend was good.  It was packed with family events on both Saturday and Sunday.  I wanted to get more done around the house, but I knew ahead of time that was going to be difficult.

My schedule is crazy this week, and I already am looking forward to next weekend.

  • Weekend was ok... We went to the MFA to see the Chihuly exhibit, which I thought was interesting. I liked a few pieces, but over all, I did not love the exhibit.  We then went to Jimmy's in Brookline for dinner. This used to be Joe V's in the South End, which was a block from our condo before they moved. It was great to see the staff, whom we became friends with, but the food was ok..

Saturday and Sunday were filled with walking around Boston and just hanging out. We also walked over to SOWA for the open market. I agree with Rock that I like the older location better! Although, this does bring business to the shops along Thayer Street which is a good thing. We also went shopping and I fell in love with a sofa at CB that is just way to expensive. : ( It's the first sofa we have both really liked, it's comfortable, it's the right size (small) and it's sooooo cute. But alas... it's almost $4,000.00 Grrrrrrrr.....

Today was the first night of my ballet class at the Boston Ballet in Newton. It was a blast! (I'm going to be sore tomorrow!)

Were you at SOWA the same day I was (Sunday)?  We should have met, haha!  I did like looking at some of those stores along Thayer, never been there before, but whoowee were they $$$$$.

Sorry you didn't like the Chihuly exhibit.  We saw it in AZ on one of our visits to MIL and it was set up outside in a botanical garden there. Something about that setting made it more special I think and I was trying to picture what it'd be like inside the MFA and I don't think it'd be as nice.

I'm just sad that they don't serve breakfast. CFA breakfast burritos are amazing!!
