anyone had to do it? how annoying is it? the dr saids it a real pain but it needs to be done to check. any mom have preclampsia? what was your experience like?
they are testing me for preeclampsia because i have been having really bad headaches, back aches and starting to swell. the dr ask me to come in this morning and they ran a bunch of blood test and took my blood pressure. i only gained 1lb in 2 weeks.
we found out that the baby's head is in the down position and he is measuring in at 34 weeks. the dr believes that he is a big baby and wants to have a baseline for bloodwork so he can keep an eye on it.
he also mentioned that if it comes back that if i have a slight case of preclampsia that we will talk about delivering him at 37-38 weeks.. which means he will be here in the beginning of september.
now i am on an every week dr appointment schedule. i just want everything to be ok with the baby and hope that i do go full term so he gets full 'cooking' time.
Re: 24 hour urine test/preeclampsia? (BR)
I had to do that last week. Its not bad at all, I promise. Its more annoying than it is anything. I've been having high bp for the last month whenever I would go into the office. Since my blood pressure is not coming down thats why I am on bed rest. My 24 hour urine came back good as well as my blood work but they were checking me for pre-eclampsia. My mom had it twice so they are keeping a close eye because it can be hereditary. I get headaches as well but no swelling. I go once a week and when I go I get a non stress test to make sure that little girl isn't stressed out due to my high bp.
Dont worry, they will do whatever they feel is the safest for you and for him. If he is born between 37-38 weeks at least he will be full term so thats good.
I've had to collect 24 hour urine samples many times but not for pre-e. It's annoying (especially since you have to keep the jug in the fridge. Barf) but it's not the worst. When I had to collect at work I used one of those disposable styrofoam coolers with bags of ice instead of the office fridge because ew for my coworkers.
Anyways, I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you.
I know nothing of what pre-e testing involves but just wanted to say I'm thinking about you and hope that all is clear and that you have a safe remainder of your pregnancy!

this!!!
I had high BP with Jack and TONS of swelling ( the girls who saw me can attest to it my thighs went straight to my toes there was no difference). I also gained 60 lbs with Jack. I was at risk for Pre-E but never did the 24 hr pee because I was so close to the end, started at 36.5 only weeks and so they took me out at 38 and I had him at 39. I was induced at that point. All was fine.
This time I haven't gained much weight (27lbs so far), and had a growth ultrasound today, she is measuring 37 weeks but we are just over 35 weeks.
For swelling LAY down with legs up. just legs up isn't as helpful.
Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
