My question below got me thinking...how many of you have your own computers vs "family" or "household" computers?
[Poll]
Re: Computer poll
Right now we each have our own desktop and laptop. No family items yet, since it is just the two of us.
I think down the road we would probably have 3 computers: a desktop for DH, a laptop for me (and travel), and a family desktop.
Not sure when we'd give our child(ren) his/her own computer. We didn't get one until we went to college, as a HS graduation gift. But no one I knew had their own computer in HS. Obviously times are different now. So we'll see. Not before HS though.
I voted that we share a desktop, but we're kind of SS
We do have one desktop that we both use, but we also both have work-issued laptops and I use mine a lot at home (because I'm doubly lazy and love to watch TV and browse the interwebz all at the same time).

I voted 'share one desktop' because that's what we do right now. While I was still in school Matt used the desktop and I had a laptop that was on loan from my mom while I was in school (it was new when she loaned it, she is awesome!).
We are hoping to get me a laptop to use at home at some point.

I think many of you know that my DH is a computer guy...so he has his own desktop, which I never touch. I have my own desktop but it is not easily connected to the internet, so I never use it. I bought it when my college PC died in like 2005 maybe? I like it but it's a pain b/c of the connectivity issues.
Then K has his own Macbook Pro (a fancy big one) plus his work-issued IBM laptop. I have his old macbook that he reconfigured for me when he bought the Macbook Pro.
Also we have our own iPads - his of course is the biggest/bestest, mine is the lowest model as I just don't need all the bells/whistles.
I just cannot imagine sharing a computer, ever. He is always on one anyway, so if we shared I'd never get to use it! But it is funny, one coffee table in our living room usually has two or three laptops plus at least on iPad charging.
The thing neither of us really use anymore - our iPods!

I didn't vote, I don't really fit into any category.
I brought the desktop into the relationship. DH did not have a desktop or a laptop in college. When we moved in together we just had my desktop (again, it's a dinosaur with some upgrades).
This year for Christmas I bought DH the MacBook pro and it is the first laptop either of us has ever owned. My ipod is still synced to the desktop, which has been unplugged for 3 months during office renovations. His ipod is now synced to the MacBook.
So essentially we share both.
Claire, I'm with you. I can't imagine sharing, I get annoyed when Pat even asks to use my laptop for a few minutes.
We have so many computers in this house it's really sad. Some of them are in limbo waiting to get old information/data/pictures off of before we kiss them goodnight.
We each have an active personal laptop and Pat has a work laptop. Our computers are like our sacred space and we very, very rarely use the other person's.
Pretty much if I'm home and we're just watching tv then I am also on my laptop (like now). I get bored with just tv, whereas Pat can watch forever.
