Health insurance carriers must for free birth control

Too bad I have a high deductible plan that does't cover RX until I met my deductible. I so miss the nuva ring! I just couldn't afford $70 a month.
*EDIT - It will only cover generics, so the nuvaring is out. It will cover IUDs though.
Re: About darn time
Woot woot!
I SERIOUSLY don't understand how this hasn't happened before now. I"m sure they've studied it, but I can't believe that having insured people have babies is cheaper than the insurance company paying for BC.
The breast pump feature is nice, too. I wish it would have been two years ago. Our insurance at the time would cover a rental for two months. Um.... two months? That's it? My baby needs breastmilk for at least a year and you only cover two months?
Politics, religion, male-dominated decision makers...
I used to take generic for years too. Then, I switched to a name brand for various reasons and it was roughly the same cost on my insurance at the time. Then a few years later, I switched back to a generic because the cost of name brand went way up through my insurance and I subsequently turned into a crazy person! Holy, hormone overload! It was miserable.
So, while I understand why this new ruling as well as so many insurances place a greater emphasis on generics, I wish name brands were more accessible. Some of those new drugs are just better, but they're so much money, it's a joke!
Have you asked your pharmacy what the cost would be if you paid for them out of pocket rather than billing your insurance?
I hadn't thought of that. But I've since found an alternative that's well working for me.
If the doctor can prove a need, then it is supposed to be covered.
