*pagas*

Hi! I had a quick question for you. I've followed your blog for sometime now and get recipes from you from time to time. I was wondering if you ever figured out how to make your own taco seasoning? I kind of dislike using the package stuff because it has so much sodium in it and I'm trying to keep track of how much sodium we take in because of my DH high blood pressure.

Re: *pagas*

  • Oooh, I'd be interested to know, too! I can figure out the basic ingredients but haven't looked into a recipe to make a regular seasoning...would be so handy!

  • I've made my own for the last couple of years.  Here is the recipe that I use.  I started doing it when I realized I didn't have a mix packet and liked it so much that we've never gone back.

  • Awww...bummer!

Thanks Future I'm going to try that out! I want to make the crock pot chicken tacos that are famous around here. How much would you suggest using? When I use the package stuff for it I use the whole thing.

  • Alycedale10 - have you tried the lower sodium seasoning packets?  They are just as good.

  • I bought a pack of teh low sodium kind last night but I didn't know if it was sa good as the other stuff. We've been trying to eat simi clean so I was trying to stay away from the prepackaged stuff.
  • I make large batches of the mix and then use 3-4 Tablespoons of the mix for every pound of meat.
