Please read the S/O calling someone a bigot post and please respond to ElizabethD's response about reconstruction. When were Blacks put in positions of power, in the south, because of their race? I don't remember hearing about this at all, Please help.

I responded awhile go to thsi post. There were a few years when things were not as bad as they were in the future (jim crow and such). Land was even promised in most areas and given in some areas.
But that was short lived and NOTHING like what elizabeth described.
We will be staying with my BIL's father in North Virginia. I don't have his exact address, and I'm trying to find out the best way to get into DC the day of the parade. Should we take a train? I imagine parking will be an impossibility.
I'm SOOO excited to meet you guys too! Is there an offical GTG in the works or will we meet on the sly? I imagine numerous nesties will be headed that way.
