Discussion of the Day - sorry I'm late today! :)

I took a day off from work today, which means I kinda took a day off from The Online (TM by Cheeky's grandma Big Smile)...

Today's discussion card reads: "What is your favorite drink combo meal?" (yeah, kinda lame today)

Mine -- Red wine and (puffy) Cheetos. Srsly. Best meal ever. Try it, esp after a bad day at work...

And... go!

Re: Discussion of the Day - sorry I'm late today! :)

  • During the last election DH was travelling with Obama and since I was alone for 2 weeks, I pretty much only ate popcorn and cranberry juice w vodka.

However, I am a HUGE fan of mexican food, so i'll never turn down a taco (or fajita, or burrito, etc) with a margarita.

Also, when it's freaking freezing in the winter, there is nothing more comforting than making homemade pasta for fettuccine alfredo, followed up with a bottle or two of shiraz.  Mmmmmmm.

  • LOL - love that you are quoting my gram!

i also love a really good, ice cold beer (preferably something like sam summerale ) and hot, crispy fries.

  • I'm gonna be super unoriginal - and go with red wine and dark chocolate! yum, yum!

My current favorite (non-alcoholic) drink is a fizzy vitamin packet dissolved in water mixed with chia seeds.  lol.  that's where I got my SN.

  • Rare steak and mashed potatoes with Zin. I could seriously eat this every night, I love steak that much. And throw some blue cheese butter in there, too.
  • I love eating a good steak and baked potato with an awesome hoppy beer. Actually, I pretty much like eating anything with an awesome hoppy beer.

My husband would be appalled, but there is something pretty satisfying about a huge-ass budweiser and a hot dog at the ballpark. Even if it is crappy beer.

  • Mine is very similar to yours, Pam - I love red wine and spicy nacho doritos. Maybe followed by a cupcake with lots of frosting.
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • Cold pizza and Diet Coke - although honestly I don't really drink much soda anymore).

Mac and cheese (homemade of course) and red wine, preferably a zin. Seghesio maybe.

Sometimes, a bowl of Lucky Charms (the milk combo is implied).

  • Gotta go with hot crabs and cold beer. Mmmmm!
  • I couldn't decide on just one -

A savignon blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand (we like Oyster Bay) with the crab cakes at Silverados/Carlyle/Mike's American Grill.  That meal must start with a Makers Mark Manhattan with the yummy bread.

The wurstplatte entree at Cafe Berlin with whatever awesome German beer they have on tap.

I (also) especially love hoppy beer - the hoppier the better.

Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.

this and Dr. Pepper is the only beverage to get at Taco Bell (granted i haven't eaten TB in a long time but they were out of DP once and the food tasted strange to me).

  • Oh man I have more than one.  From this weekend:

Cherry Limade (3 olives cherry vodka, fresh lime juice, grenadine and sprite) and a burger made on the grill with all the fixings!

  • A nice beer and a burger, yum!

OH SNAP. That would be a very, very close second to steak and wine.

  • good pizza and cold beer for me.

  • Wine with a nice Italian meal... doesn't even matter what type!
  • Our go-to celebration dinner is baked potatoes, filet mignon, crabcakes, spinach and a super-awesome IPA of some sort (Pliny the Elder if we have it; my go-to is Bell's Two-Hearted).

I need to think of something to celebrate, and quickly!

  • I'm on a big Mojito kick lately, so I'll say a Mojito and just about anything.... anything at all.

Or nothing, just a bunch of Mojitos...

  • I'm kind of addicted to Coke and could drink it at just about any meal, but the one meal I HAVE to have it with or else I'm not eating it is Kraft mac/cheese. :)

  • For an alcoholic drink, I'd say Mexican food with a Margarita (or even a Margarita-flavored Mike's).

For non-alcoholic, sometimes you can't beat a PB&J with a cold glass of milk.

KiahJ - I am being gifted a mess o' mint from a work colleague. I plan to smash it in the pestle thing that Zerf brought me from Puerto Rico (love Zerf!!!!) and try several mojito recipes, this weekend.

  • Sweet tea and a chick fil A sandwich!
  • I think I'll go with a nicely paired wine and cheese (and a crusty loaf of bread)!
