Re: FFFC/AW
Other than being frustrated with a co-worker who can't seem to communicate effectively with our principal (and then said co-worker comes crying to me, of all people), and being angry with myself last night after discovering I made a glaring error in finishing up my M.M., I'm doing okay.
AW: As soon as I turn in two assignments and one more comprehensive final (whatever it ends up being) I am done with my M.M. Forever. No more classes, no more UCO. Done. Finito. Fin.
I'll play.
FFFC:
My boss wants to take me out to lunch for an 'exit interview' type thing next week just before I leave. He wants feedback from me on the team, people, and processes. I am struggling with the temptation to really unload my opinions vs. taking the high road and only offering unbiased solid constructive criticism. Man there are some situations that I'd like to rant about.
AW:
1) I ran my 4th half marathon last weekend (well, it should have been, if the course markings/marshalling wasn't a giant clusterfuck, it was probably roughly a mile and a half short).
2) I booked a photographer for our wedding this week. I'm pretty excited.
AW:
Last weekend DH and I made our biggest new kitchen purchase: a 36 inch Wolf dual fuel range. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world - I can't believe I FINALLY have one. Granted, it will sit in the garage until April but whatever. We bought a floor model so we saved around 40% which is why we went ahead and bought it. Plus, it is being delivered for free. How very MM of us!
I started my new job and things are in much better shape than they lead me to believe which is a really nice surprise.
FFFC:
This is titled FFFC since it apparently upsets people when I talk about this: DH left an exterior door open all night long earlier this week. You know, he has serious issues closing things. I tried to be "cool" about it but good freaking grief, if I wouldn't have gone into that area of the house, I wouldn't have noticed and it would have stayed open all day as well. I very politely called him at work, reminded him of the potential safety issues related to his door closing issues and he blamed it on the door. So I said "Yes, the door is old. We have replaced nearly every exterior door except for that one - will you call our subcontractor and ask him to replace it next week? We will pick out a new one this weekend." BOOOYAH. Also, he left open an upper cabinet door and I ended up scratching the p!ss out of my shoulder - I almost needed stitches the scratch was so deep and there is also a huge bruise there now. Needless to say, I am working on a kitchen plan that requires NO doors AT ALL. So annoying.
We had our security people send a patrol officer to our house one afternoon because the wind blew our unlocked back door open. H forgot to lock it that morning when he left. It also blew open one cold, cold night when he, again, forgot to lock it. It was cold enough, luckily, that the cats didn't run...at least, not very far, as they were all snuggled in the bedroom where it was still warm!
H leaves lights on and cabinets open all the time. What is that about, anyway? Is it a man thing? I remember to do those things, obviously you do, too, Puppy.
AW: My parents bought me an iPad 2 [super early Christmas present] a couple of weekends ago - no more traveling with a laptop now. And, they got a new Mac, which means I'm inheriting their "old" [like, 4 years old] desktop that H can use since his crashed out.
Oh, and I'm prepping for the GRE so I can start grad school in the spring. Still looking into where I should go [there are some that are more military friendly than others], but I'm excited to be back in school.
This is more of a vent than FFFC, but I'm about to flip on drivers in this town. Almost rear-ended someone today who cut in front of me in a turn lane and didn't use his blinker. I was very, very tempted to flip him off. I'm glad we're not driving anywhere this weekend...I'm almost too annoyed to drive.
FFFC:
The company I work for is laying off a few people. While I do not want anyone to lose their job, I am really glad one of them is going away. He is totally worthless to the company and I don't really know why they've kept him on as long as they have. He's the type of person who instead of doing his own job wants to make sure everyone else is doing theirs. And, he puts EVERYTHING into an excel spreadsheet. Thus, his nickname, "The Excelerator".
Ugh, The Excelerator just sent out this pitiful email telling everyone how nice it was working here. I feel like such a tool.
Oooh fun! Who did you end up booking?
my bookshelf!

AW: We're in Colorado on vacation (we come back home tomorrow
. ) We hiked 3 14ers (peaks that are above 14,000' in elevation) today!! I feel so accomplished! We attempted to hike to the highest point in Colorado (Mt. Elbert) on Wednesday but the clouds and storms only allowed us halfway up before we decided to turn around. We were pretty disappointed, so it was such an awesome feeling to summit 3 peaks in one day! It took about 8 hours and I now have blisters on both feet....completely worth it though
And the views were absolutely astonishing!
ETA: Oh! And I have a new favorite animal. These little guys (pikas) were all over the rocks during the hike. They sound like little squeaky toys and are adorable!

FF(Sa)C- I have been sitting on my butt (albeit doing a bit of prep for a new course) watching an old school Beverly Hills 90210 marathon for the last 3 hours.
Ok---this is flammable, too. For the last 10 years, I've been encouraging DH to work work work. He's in a profession where overtime and PRN is plentiful. I work all the extra I can, so I encourage him to do it, too. Finally, he caught the "extra money" bug for a number of reasons (travel, house reno, baby fund) so he's been working 12 hour shifts 6 nights/week all month. I miss him, and wish he was around more, but given his lack of aptitude toward work, I don't want to stop making hay while the sun shines. So, I'll likely keep silent
I usually vacuum under our couch once a week. I didn't last week and maybe forgot the week before that (hey, unemployment made me lazy).
DH and I moved the couch this evening and....OMG. I nearly threw up. I can't believe how much my cats, the dog, and I shed. I vacuumed the rest of the house as well - filled up the Dyson TWICE with hair. Further, I have yet to vacuum our room...........Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck.
Under the couch once a week??? If it makes you feel any better, I realized today that the last time our house was vacuumed was when the housesitter was here---in early May. I shed more than our dog does, to be fair, and so I clean up my occasional hair tumbleweed in the hallway, but I imagine that our carpet is seriously gross. However, the clear advantage of buying dirt colored carpet and tile is you can't see how yucky it is. Now we just need to go out of town again so we can have an excuse to pay someone else to clean the house
Maybe my dirtball-ness should be my FFFC.
And, Ginger, I hope things are going better for you this evening. I'm glad your DH knew well enough to at least buy you dinner and hope everything else is smoother as a result.
5th - We have dark colored wood floors - which I love - but they show every speck of dirt and hair. I am glad of that - I want to know it is there so I feel confident that everything is clean (a bit of a neat freak here) but there is no hiding anything.
I did vacuum our bedroom this morning. Lord help us. It was so nasty, I was gagging as I emptied the vacuum. DH finds this entire process absolutely hilarious.
BC Photo. You, umm, can't beat his price, for sure. I also really liked him when we met with him.
Gosh, I am surprised they even allowed him to return to his office, let alone send out an email.
I work for a very small company. He's actually known for close to a month that he would be let go.
Holy crap- I just looked him up. Yeah, I would say you certainly can't beat FREE. lol That's awesome.
