Re: Mums Bumps and BBTs

  • Morning! Today is E's first out of the hospital doctors appointment, all appears to be fine to us so we'll see what the doc thinks.

Ups: She's stopped screaming when we have getting her ready for her bath :) she's awake a lot more that she has been and loves to "talk" to her black and white toys.

Downs: She's waking up to feed at around 4:30 and she's refusing to go back into her own bed to sleep!

QOTD: DH is a lot more lax about safety, he thinks that because she hasn't rolled over yet and can't crawl that she can fall off of her changing table etc. I keep reminding him that she wiggles and can move quite far doing that! He's getting better from me reminding him but I just try my hardest to keep an eye out while he's looking after her.

  • Ups: Hes pulling himself up to standing position. I think he'll be cruising by the end of August.

Downs: he's pulling himself up to standing position, so I have to be right by him all the time. In the main room we don't have carpet and the rug we have is not very soft. He's falling a lot. He's climbing on the stairs too. I'm constantly checking where he is. By the end of the day, I'm beat.QOTW: DH and I pretty much see eye to eye. We disagree on things that will come later; i.e. A car, Internet access, facebook. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

  • Downs: I think AF is about to show up, so no luck this cycle.  I'm pretty bummed about it since my parents are coming to visit in a few weeks, and I had really wanted to share some good news in person.  Crappy.  One more month and then back to the doctor for more tests.

Ups: I'll be able to partake in the wine tasting we'll be doing in France with my parents!

  • Good morning!

Ups: I had my first doctor's appointment in India yesterday. The doctor seemed totally normal and her pre-natal care plan was essentially identical to the plan the my doctor at home had. That was quite a relief!

Downs: I have had a nasty headache for three days. I wish I could take Excedrine for it. Sad Instead I'm suffering through it and doing my best to get all of my work done.

QOTW: Since this is our first one, I don't know for sure what H's view of parenting will shape up to be. He wants to be really involved and thinks that he can train our kids to obey perfectly like our dogs do. I think these are both great in theory, but I'm still waiting to see how they shape up in real life. With his work schedule, something will have to give for him to be as involved as he thinks he is going to be. As far as having obedient kids, I'm all for it, but I have a feeling that it will not be as simple as it was to train our dogs.

    Hi all, how's everyone doing?

    Ups? Downs?

QOTW: How does your other half's view of parenting differ from yours, how have you dealt with this?

Good afternoon all.  I'm doing pretty well, just relaxing as much as possible.  Leo is napping and I am eating lunch and thanking God that there isn't much sun today.  I don't like it when England gets heat waves.

UPS: I'm due tomorrow!  I can't believe it's already here.  My mil and bil arrived here on Sunday and I am super grateful that things have been going smoothly and everyone is getting along.  I am also super happy that my mom and dad arrive on Saturday!

DOWNS: I'm due tomorrow and there is no friggin' sign of this behbeh making an entrance.  Although, I am kinda OK with that at the moment b/c of the heatwave.  Being in labor in a very hot, non-air conditioned hospital sucks!  It happened with Leo and it wasn't a pleasant stay.  I am REALLY hoping this baby isn't too late.  Leo was 4 days past due and those were 4 very miserable days.

QOTW:  Dh and I are pretty much on the same page with everything.  Although, he is quite bummed about me not even trying this time around to b'feed.  Other than that, we keep communication open about how we want the kids to be raised.  I think there has been maybe 3 times that he said/did something with Leo that I wasn't on par with, but I didn't say anything to him in front of Leo, I waited until later and we talked about it.

  • Ups: James was really well behaved this weekend, it was almost unbelieveable. And his little prayer last night was so cute that it melted my heart.

Downs: Whining, whining, whining! Followed by why?why? why? Oh, and add in some more whining. Its just a phase right, there is no reason to have to shoot myself in the ears?

QOTW: Sometimes we are on the same page, sometimes not, but what is important to us is that in front of James we are a united front and agree. When we disagree we can discuss it when he is out of ear shot and then decide how to handle something.

  • Ups: Alexandra is sleeping better, still not through the night, but not waking up until 4 am or later, which is VERY nice.  She really likes to eat finger foods, and I'm hoping we can move almost fully away from baby food in the next couple of months.

Downs: Not sleeping all night, like she did before all the upheaval in her life, however things are improving, so more of an up.

QOTW:  Our views are pretty similar

  • Up - we just got back from a vacation to the States and DD did very well on the flight back. She did horribly on the other flights, so it was nice to have a good end to the trip. It was also so fun to see her with her grandparents/aunts/uncles, etc. It also seems like we're back on the right time zone now, which was fairly easy to transition. She is in such a fun stage - starting to move on her own and is always talking.

Downs - she's continually teething. We're now working on teeth 7 & 8 (gotten all of them in the last 6 weeks) and is miserable at night. I'm not sure if its jet lag or teeth or something else.

QOTW: How does your other half's view of parenting differ from yours, how have you dealt with this?

I would think we're pretty similar. DH is probably a bit more relaxed than I am, but we haven't had any problems yet. I know that I sometimes tell him what to do regarding the baby, "she needs a nap" or "give her a bath" and I'd like him to take more responsibility.   Its hard because I spend all day with her and know what she needs and when she needs it, and he just gets to be the fun guy and play with her when I need his help.

  • Ups?  V is 'talking' more and more, pulling herself up and walking around furniture, another tooth came through. Overall just seeing more and more of her personality is so fun.

Downs? She has been STTN until about 5am, eating, then getting up at 7...whch is AWESOME but of course DH leaves yesterday and she squawked every few hours last night. DOES SHE KNOW!?

QOTW: How does your other half's view of parenting differ from yours, how have you dealt with this? We are pretty much on the same page. Sometimes I think he has a hard time seeing how difficult it is for me to leave her with others, and that frustrates me. Yes I WANT to be independent, yes I KNOW she'll be fine, no I DON'T want to leave her, but wait yes I do. What does he not get about that? hahaha

  • Sushi, so sorry that AF is about to make an appearance. Our vibes/thoughts/prayers are still coming your way.

Ups: C is at an incredibly fun and developmental age. She's doing well since having her brace off. She's a rolly-polly and I think she'll be crawling by the end of August. Her leg strength was really affected by the brace and I'm happy she's developing well now.

Downs: She's woken up with nightmares the past two nights. She's been terrified when she's woken up and it's taken a while to get her calmed down.

QOTD: H and I are on the same page with pretty much everything we've encountered so far. Teaching her financial responsibility is something that we'd differed on a bit in the past but these days H agrees on the importance of teaching her the value of money.

  • Ups: Loving feeling the little guy kick around in there and I am throughly enjoying spending money on him on cute nursery crap and outfits he'll wear for all of 2.5 seconds.  Ahh...it has begun.

Downs: I think I bruised my rib from all the freakin' vomiting.  Sucks even worse when your husband is hilarious like mine and makes me laugh every five minutes. I am really looking forward to eating something besides rice, soup and toast.

QOTW: DH is a total non-disciplinarian (even with the dog) and I am a boundries type of gal.  DH's parents were waaay too strict and he is scared of following in their footsteps.  I guess I'll have to pick up the slack in that case, but I hate the idea of being "mean mom" all the time.  We'll have to figure this one out I guess.

  • Ups: BabyD is doing well with DH being gone. Also have two nights worth of success on increasing his vegetable intake and decreasing his reliance on rice. My baby bump is really showing now.

Downs: I'm having a terrible time sleeping with DH gone. Soooo tired.

QOTD: DH and I are pretty much on the same page. We talked a lot before having kids and keep talking a lot now. We covered a lot of issues. Before even trying to get pregnant it was important for me to be on the same page regarding certain issues. DH being such a supportive dad has made parenting a pleasure. If he was on the opposite page on certain topics (discipline!) then I probably would have refused to have a second kid. I think it's important for the parents to be a partnership in raising kids, for the kids and each other.

  • Ups: I'm starting to feel the baby move which is nice and reassuring. We also found out we are having a girl...I didn't care either way, but it is nice to know.

Downs: Hoping my low lying placenta moves.  I'm also having trouble sleeping.

QOTD:  Our parenting views seem similar in theory, we will see what happens in reality. I think my husband is going to be a bit surprised by how much he is going to miss with his long working hours once he really experiences it and how much he is going to wish we had family/friends closer.
