Good lawyer for adoption by a step parent?

I think I am ready to go ahead with the paperwork for T to try to adopt R, without trying to negotiate with d-bag on the issue.

I think he's currently five months behind in child support and is refusing to pay the US travel expenses that R incurred due to us traveling back for visitation (because he has no money). I thought I read somewhere about it needing to be six months behind to clearly show they are unfit, but I'm not too sure.
he hasn't worked since nov '06 and has been living with his parents since then as well. Clearly not an adult in my world.

So does anyone have any advice or a good family law lawyer? My previous atty sucks, so I won't be going back to her.

TIAyou can pm me or fb or whatever.

  • no recs but good luck Teri. Total D-bag!

How was his time here anyway? What did they do? [quote]Well, my parents paid for and signed him up for a 3 week summer school class on science, which he loved. D-bag took him late for the first two weeks and then thought it had ended so he missed a day of the last week. (my mom gave him the handouts that listed the times and dates)

My parents also paid and signed him up for baseball. I think he enjoyed that, but would have done better with some practice at home, which he didn't get.

And... My parent paid for and signed him up for swimming lessons, which he made great progress in his skills and overcoming some fears, and following directions.

He also got to spend time at my parents' house a bit too, and I'm thankful for that, but d-bag asked if he could have R tonight so they could watch "got talent" because they've been watching it together every week.
