Tuesday's Discussion of the Day
before I get caught up in work and forget again... here's today's question: What phrase or cliche (for example, "at the end of the day") is currently being overused by your friends or colleagues?
I work at a nonprofit individual membership association, and we're starting our 2012 budget/ops plan process, so .. "member value proposition" is a phrase I can do without having to hear at least one day this week. Please.
(Most of the active Nesties on this board are gov't employees, I think, so ... let's see if there's any creativiity or if every agency has the same buzzwords!)

Re: Tuesday's Discussion of the Day
In communication with.
I have fallen prey to using this myself when it means someone hasn't returned my call or email or I realize it's been awhile since I actually followed up with the person, but don't want to feel like a slacker, LOL!
"...in THIS economy"
Please don't let me hear that one again!
- "it is what it is"
- looking at an issue from the "50,000-foot level"
- "creating efficiencies"
- "out of pocket" (meaning unavailable - argh)
- my boss keeps talking about how she wants to "connect up" with people
I'm sure I'll think of more later. Not sure why bullets aren't working, either.TTC #2: BFP 12/17/11, m/c 1/7/12 and D&C 1/12/12

strategic plan/ning.
"it is what it is" is starting to grate on my nerves
"on the same song sheet"
My Cooking Blog
"Well, we'll see"
Which means nothing will ever happen.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
"We're going to outreach to"
NO. Ugh, it's "We're going to reach out to."
Makes my skin crawl!
Ack! That's terrible!

"let's touch base with..."
"it's a clusterf#$%"
and then there are a couple that are specific to one of my. but, i won't divulge them on here. they involve big lawyerly words.
this
my old boss had a bunch of her own lingo that made me roll my eyes immediately but i've tried to block them out.
"Winning!!" - yup. Charlie Sheen lives in my office.
"Collocleeum" - Which is how, despite being corrected for the last two years, my assistant insists on pronouncing "Colloquium"
OMG - my peeps use that one ALL THE TIME, too -- except we only go to 30,000 feet. Alternate -- "Down in the weeds."
ARGH. Just typing these phrases is making my skin crawl!
"What is a week-end?"

We only go to 10,000 feet, lol.
win-win (or if it's especially good win-win-win)
in the weeds

I'm still on maternity leave, but all the emails I see and chats I still have with friends at the office involve "streamlining operations", "flattening the org structure" and "cost efficiency" aka, seems like every day they're eliminating another position and laying someone off.
Ugh, not looking forward to going back
They blame the debt ceiling and the threatened government shutdowns, but other government contractors seem just fine...
think outside the box
innovation (we've played con call buzzword bingo with this one)
go to market (if I hear this one more time...)
superserving (i.e., superserving our customers...)
high-performing team (because, thanks, I wasn't killing myself for this company until you mentioned it...)

Chocolate Blog!
oh yes, my old boss just loooooooved to badger us about "thinking outside the box" and "reaching out"
she also liked to use the term "bandwith" in regards to our department as she piled more of her own work on us.
One of my co workers keeps saying "solid".
CW: - How did that project turn out?"
CW2 - "Really well, blah blah"
CW: "Solid"
It is driving me nuts. It is his response to everything.
He must have just watched "Undercover Brother"
At my work, I'm tired of hearing about "meaningful use." What the heck does that even mean?
Another that's done with "It is what it is." I like the come back, "It is what you make it"
I'm just done with work.
I might scream if I hear 'SWOT analysis' and 'marketable strategy' (I think it is supposed to be 'market strategy') one more time this week. And, yes, it is only Tuesday.
Ha ha ha! I love that movie!
