moving?

Hi:) Our apartment building jacked out rent up (quite a bit) to the point that we can't justify staying in our building.

We really love the UES, but are willing to consider moving to the UWS as well. I need to be up in these areas for my commute out of the city each day. How did you all find your places? Websites, brokers, etc?

Thanks...hope you all had a great weekend!

Re: moving?

  • DH and i are in Sunset Park, Brooklyn (just below Park Slope) and i found it on Craigslist. I love Craigslist, it's just a lot of time and legwork.

If you guys have the funds, i also highly suggest working with a broker. They do all the work for you! And they have access to much more apartment listings...

  • I live on the UWS and love it! You can definitely do CL or metropolitanequities.com is one company whose building I have lived in.  A broker is much easier though, so if you can, do that.  Otherwise, you can check out the various real estate websites like Prudential and Citi-habitats, etc. and see if there is anything you like...In terms of neighborhoods, the UWS is typically more expensive than Manhattan Valley (btwn 96th and 110th) and Morningside Heights (110th-125th by Columbia U).  If you have the time, you could walk the neighborhoods, check to see signs on buildings etc and see where you like it most.

     Good luck!
