Vent

My Aunt just stopped by.

When she arrived, DS was chewing on a Mum-mum (a little rice biscuit that literally melts in his mouth). She kept saying "That is so large. He's going to choke. You should break it into smaller pieces."

I ignored her.

Before she left, I give him the other since they're a 2 pack. Immediately she starts with the "That is too big! Why don't you give him smaller foods!"

Finally I said "He eats them all the time. He's fine."

So she said "You just don't know because you're with him every day. But I have an outside perspective and I know that is too big for him."

Um... what?

Re: Vent

  • Confused

    People are so strange sometimes.

  • MIL said something like that to me last time she was here. I nearly clobbered her.

Doesn't she realize SMALLER foods are the choking hazards?

Seriously. She told me to break it up into smaller pieces.

Yeah. I had given DS a long fresh well cooked green bean. She gasped and said, "oh no! he can't eat that, he'll choke!"

The pedi and I had JUST talked about this and he had eaten 2 or 3 of these already.

    DH actually agreed with her.

I told him that night if he ever questioned my parenting in front of her again he was losing marital privileges for a year.
