Ideas for outdoor locations for photo shoots?

Hi, kind of new here. I post every once in a while but not every week. 

Was wondering if you could suggest some locations that you have been to for outdoor photo shoots in dsm, wdsm, clive, waukee areas.  I'm working on building my portfolio and doing shoots on the side for fun but I never have time to go scope out locations with 3 kids.  Any favorite parks, walking trails, barns, downtown spots?  Thanks!

    We've done pics at the Natural playscape (jester park). The water is a fun element. There's also a rose garden by the DSM art center.

    Walker Johnson park in Urbandale has a great lake and wooden bridge where you can get cute pictures here in town.  We have also been down to Madison County and done pictures at some of the covered bridges down there.  Those can be very artistic as well but it is a bit of a drive from here.

    yes I have shot at Walker Johnson park, I really like that location.  And just this week i was thinking about checking out madison county - thanks!

     to the other posters, I haven't been to the rose garden, i'll need to check that out too.  Thanks!!!
