Hi girls! This week I finished Fleeced (a mystery,) read Get Lucky by Katherine Center (a chick lit read..it was good,) and now I am reading True Love (and Other Lies) by Whitney Gaskell. It is good. Her books are really good...so easy to get into and you do not want to put them down!!!
Re: weekly book post
I finished up The Traveller's Gift by Andy Andrews yesterday. It was a good quick read - it's technically found under Christian Inspiration but it's more of a motivational book.
Now I'm moving on to Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It sounds like a such an intriguing book and so many of you have recommended it so I decided to give it a go. I'm excited to get into it.
I just finished "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein and absolutely loved it! I finished it in a day and a half.
I also recently read "Lipstick in Afghanistan" by Roberta Gately and it was really good, but I didn't like her writing style that much.
I finally finished The Kitchen House, which I found hard to get started but really glad I stuck through the book. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I enjoyed The Help.
I also finished Jim Butcher's Ghost Story. It's book #13 or 14 in The Dresden Files. My H found this series and then made me read the books. We both love this series!
Next up is Danielle Steel's latest book, and then a bunch of books the class I'm starting at the end of the month- its for my endorsement as a school librarian so they should be easy reads!
I LOVED this book!
I LOVED this book!
I read A dog's purpose a couple weeks ago, and that is another doggy favorite. IT has some sad parts, but it is really great if you're a dog lover. I also finished Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult last week. GREAT read!
Right now I am reading the 4th book of the Big Stone Gap series by Adriana Trigiani. It is okay. The books have gotten a bit formulaic and this definitely needs to be the end of the series.
I am so proud to report that after starting The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest the last week of March during my Florida vacation (third book of Stieg Larsson's "Millenium Trilogy")... I am finally finished as of a few minutes ago! I started the first book on our honeymoon last September and a year later I'm finally done! Woohoo! Between endless wedding thank-you notes and puppy parenting in the fall, and searching for/buying a new home in the spring and early summer I just read at a much slower rate than usual, not that they weren't great books... in fact the reason it took me so long to read them is because once you start, you can't stop so if I knew I didn't have time to read them I just wouldn't pick the books up at all.
Now that I am finished and have much more time to read, I am planning on reading Water for Elephants. My grandmother said it was awesome... I want to see the movie but I have to read the book first. I might read House Rules by Jodi Piccoult first though, that one is already on my Nook.
I have about 15 pages left of Two Kisses for Maddy by Matthew Logelin. It's his memoir about his life following the birth of his daughter and the death of his wife. I'm pretty sure he has been mentioned on here (or The Knot) a couple of times. If you haven't heard his story, I highly recommend checking out www.mattlogelin.com. I followed his blog for a long time before the book came out, so I was expecting the raw emotion in his book. It's funny at times, sad at times, but always honest. That's my favorite part about his writing, both on his blog and in his book. He is so down to earth.
This week I finished the rest of Columbine. Overall it was good. It cleared up a lot of misconceptions and rumors, and gave a lot of insight into the minds of the killers. It was hard to get through at times though.
I also read If I Stay by Gayle Forman. It was a pretty quick read and an okay book.
No idea what I am going to read next. I think I need to look for something fun and lighthearted!
I didn't know there was a 4th book! I've read the first three so I'll have to look for this one as well. What's it called?!
I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last week. I went and picked the other two up from the library yesterday. Was the second as good as the first?
I read Water for Elephants recently. I literally could not put it down. I read it in basically one sitting. My husband refers to it as "that elephant book" and whenever I say another book is good, he asks if it's better than the elephant book.
I honestly thought each book was better than the next in the Trilogy. The thing about the second two were that they weren't so slow in the beginning. I thought the first book took about 100 pages before it got really intriguing. The second two books really are pick up and go from the very beginning and the second book feeds right into the third. My grandparents said that even though Larsson is dead (the author) there may be a 4th... he had outlined a 4th book completely before he died (the books were actually published after his death, too)... apparently his significant other was interested in using his outline to write the 4th, she helped him write the first 3 as well. I'd be really interested to read the 4th if there was one!
I am reading The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. I think it was jnicole who recommended it. I really like it. It goes back and forth from the Salem witch trials (and the generations after it) to 1991.
I am also starting to read another book about teaching writing. I need to start preparing for the start of the school year.
