We have been lazy and never gotten family pictures taken so I was bound and determined to get one this summer. We have had to reschedule three times because of this darn heat. Even though it was still hot on Saturday we went ahead and got them done because I am starting back to work soon and wanted them done before things get crazy, plus I wanted to do Brody's 6 month pictures at the same time. Oh boy was it interesting.
First of all it was super hot outside so I'm sure we looked just lovely. Ella decided that she was going to be super shy and clingy and then once she warmed up she just wanted to touch all the "octagons" (stop signs) that were near our photo shoot location so we spent a lot of time chasing her. Then a wedding party came and wanted to take pictures where we were and it was clear that they had been driving around and drinking for quite some time. They weren't rude or anything, just overly enthusiastic and very distracting. Finally Brody boy was just getting too warm so we decided to finish the rest inside.
We get there and Ella is hungry so she is eating a banana. Next thing I know she accidentally sits on part of it on the photographers nice couch. Sweet. As we are trying to clean that up Brody spits up all over the wood floor. Meanwhile, Ella is absolutely refusing to sit by her brother or do any shots of just the two of them because he is in the grabby stage and pulls her shirt and hair. So she would just burst into tears whenever we tried to take any of the kids together. Ugh. I think the planets are just not aligned for us to get a family photo! ![]()
Re: Family Picture Fail
i feel for you, as this was probably pretty disappointing (and frustrating!). it's one of those things that you hope goes well and put effort into scheduling and outfit pick-outs. it sounds like one thing after another happened, too
i'm convinced that our kids know exactly when we want things to go smoothly, and that is when it flops. i say this from our family photo experience last year ... i have never witnessed my boys so nutty, and i was in tears driving home from feeling so disappointed and embarrassed.
hopefully there will be a few good pics -- i say sometimes 1 or 2 out of each 100 may be realistic with two little ones
