Who was it that dealt with American Exteriors?

I thought someone may have done this before.  My husband set an appt for them to come out to our house on Friday, it sounds like they will replace the windows at reduced cost for marketing purposes or something. I don't know all the details yet, but It sounds kind of fishy to me, but wanted to see if anyone else had dealt with them and how it went.  TIA

Re: Who was it that dealt with American Exteriors?

  • we had windows put in by them 2 years ago and everything seemed fine...they put a sign in your front yard for two weeks or so as "advertising".  Also if you recommend them to someone and they say you did, you get some money.  Really nice people, we talked with 3 other groups and they were the cheapest. Got done in less than a day (6 windows 1 really big picture window) and were very good about cleanup (asked if we found any sort of trash/nails/etc to call immediately and they would come back and clean up).  Also,  had a weird streak on one of the windows that would not come off and they replaced it free (as they should).
  • The marketing deal is dependent on location and traffic flow in your area.  We had them out to give us a bid on siding last year and it was the most ridiculous offer ever.  So for us they were way more expensive, to the tune of double what we were quoted from the local company that has done all of our exterior work.

  • Good to know.  Our windows definitely need to be replaced as they are probably 40 years old.  I hadn't planned on doing it just yet, but figure it can't hurt to look into it.  If the price is right we may just go for it.
  • We had them replace 9 of our 18 windows on our main level. Our heating bill went from (budget) $164 to $59. They were super super super easy to work with. The guys who put the windows in were very good and cleaned up really REALLY well. I'd totally work with them again. We're more than happy.

Ours was also the discounted rate for writing a review, before and after pictures, etc for marketing.
