Dear Neighbour

Dear Neighbour,

If you choose to shout at my son from your downstairs flat and then bang on your roof (my floor) then I am choosing to vacuum my flat now, and doing any other noisy jobs that are required.

From,

Your Upstairs Neighbour

P.S. I have very dirty corners that require a lot of banging to clean, especially over your bedroom area.

Re: Dear Neighbour

  • I think you should also consider a dance party for your son, complete with tons of running and jumping kids.
  • Wow. The neighbor continues to be a peach!
  • Why is your neighbor shouting at your son?

Loud cleaning seems to be a good way to handle this situation.  Add in some loud music and you're set.

  • I'd be having words with said neighbor.  If they can't deal with some noise during the day, then they ought to move into a top floor flat...that's just the norm for living with someone above you.  If it was at 1am, then yes, they could complain, but during the day?  Get a life.  Idiot.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • Honestly, I'd be considering filing a counter-complaint against his noise. Banging on your floor is ridiculous.

    I agree with ILP too.

  • Honestly, we live in a flat and we hear our neighbours all the time. That's just how it is in old buildings. If she has that much of a problem, I agree, she should move to a top floor flat. She's being ridiculous. Jump up and down for a while, it's fun!

  • Thanks Ladies.

Pineapples, we have spoken to him and after that he went to our landlord. We were willing to play along until he went to the landlord and I feel like that is when he declared war, IYKWIM. Our agents have told us to ignore him, that he is a grump and we should enjoy our flat. They also said that he could call the enviromental agency if he wants to take the complaint further, but they would not up hold the complaint. Funny thing, one of my good friends here, her DH used to work for the enviromental agency and has also told us that he has no case. Oh well, I needed a fire under my bum to get cleanng and this was the spark. At least I get a clean, sparkly house at the end and I burnt some extra calories.

  • Wow, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.  I think I'd have another talk with him if he's starting to shout at James though.

  • I used to have an upstairs neighbor who regularly did her vacuuming at midnight or later. I dealt with that but I'd love to see what he would do about that!

  • Tell your neighbour to move next door to us. My hubs has got a new bass guitar and amp. And he's been practising solid for his audition tonight. ROCK!!!

Oh, and I have a voilin that I can't mute and a dog that barks like he's attacking whenever the postie comes or one of us leaves the house.

Kid won't seem so noisy after that.
