Lacey! I neeeed youuuu.

You were right.  Gallbladder surgery is in my immediate future.  I'm glad they found out what was wrong.  I need the dirty details please!  I'm skeered.

  • I want to know what your symptoms are if you don't mind sharing. I am beginning to think I have the same problem.

  • I had mine out in January if I can help. It really wasn't bad at all. I was just sore from the gas and incisions for a few days and now I need to stay near a bathroom if I eat a lot of fried food.

  • Mine's coming out next week [I hope - surgery consult tomorrow to set a date], and I'm a little nervous about it, too. Honeydew, did you stay overnight in a hospital, or was it outpatient?

Outpatient. They told me that they wanted me to stay for at least a few hours, but I was out of bed walking around 45 minutes after surgery so I got to go home early.  They kept on waking me up and I just wanted to sleep so I ate something, went on a short walk, peed, and stayed awake just long enough for them to release me early.

  • Thanks, Honeydew!  I totally forgot that you had gallbladder surgery recently.  I feel better.

ErikandAfton, my symptoms have been that I've had pretty much constant nausea and other stomach issues like clockwork every time after I eat for a few months now.  I figured I just had a sensitive stomach so I've been blowing it off.  No pain that I've noticed.  It was liver function test elevations that raised a red flag.

Thanks! I made an appointment with my doctor for tomorrow  because I'm starting to think the symptoms I have had off and on for a few months might be my gallbladder.

    Hope your surgery goes well!

  • My experience was probably a little different because of the pregnancy. The pain wasn't unbearable but I couldn't take anything other than Tylenol so it didn't even take the edge off. I was also throwing up courtesy of the baby so that made it really painful. I believe most surgeries are outpatient, but they wanted me to stay. (I fought & told them I was leaving after a few hours because my nurse sucked.)

The doctor will tell you to get up & move around as much as you can stand; DO IT! It helps the gas escape your abdomen and makes everything feel much better.

    Good luck!
