I want to send some pickles internationally to the cousin I went to visit b/c that's one thing she said she really missed. All I can find are glass jars, which I don't want to worry about breaking, or pickle relish - which just isn't the same on a burger, alone, etc. I could transfer the pickles into a generic plastic container, but I thought maybe it wouldn't go through customs very well if it was something that wasn't "commercially sealed". (who knows - maybe I am just making that up?)
If anyone comes by any - please let me know where to go! I have checked Kroger and Target, so far.
Plan B is to send her a good/simple dill pickle recipe (she loves to cook) and send her all of the ingredients (minus the cucumbers). I remember people talking about a refrigerator dill pickle everyone liked - can you guide me to that recipe?
Re: Weird question - pickles in plastic jars?
Only one I KNOW of is the commercial size whole pickles at Costco. She would have to really LOVE pickles. LOL.
The Boar's Head pickles we buy at Kroger come in a plastic jar.
Here is a recipe for refrigerator dill pickles:

Have you tried Sam's?
Yep, I was also going to say Boar's Head.
Ugh - I looked up and down the pickle shelf at Kroger, but mine is a small store, so maybe they don't have Boar's head. Is the taste similar to a Vlasic or Claussen?
Also - I figured the "gallon" size or whatever would be plastic, but obviously, don't want to send that much over! lol. I don't have a Costco or Sams card - but figured I would only be able to find the too large size there, anyway.
They're similar to Claussen. I always see them by the deli counter or with the Claussen pickles, rather on the normal pickle shelf.
Ah - good to know. I will check there next time. Thanks!
