Ugh... car trouble...

So on my way to work this morning (driving DH's car) the car started sounding like it was playing the bongos. Odd way to describe it, but that's exactly what it sounded like. I pulled over, in case something was loose and hitting the car. Nope - it seems to be something internal.

Ugh, this should be fun!

  • maybe it's the Ghost of Ricky Ricardo? :)

(yeah, I know nothing of car repair. It scares me ... bc it usually means Much Money.)

  • Ooh, I feel for you. We've been in an extended round of car trouble with both cars. Luckily, my trouble started when the car was still under warranty, so even though the warranty is not up, the ongoing problem has been covered.

H's issue (for a 98 year old Corolla with 140k miles) has also been covered under some crazy extended warranty valid only for 96 to 98 Corollas that are under 14 years of service and have less than 150k miles and have failed emissions. However, actually getting Toyota to honor that warranty has been a total nightmare. We thought we finally got it all dealt with and repaired, but after picking up his car Monday night (while dropping mine off), the check engine light came back on again Tuesday morning. Turns out they only did half the repairs they were supposed to. So we'll have to go back again.

I have no right to complain, since all this work has been free, but it has taken hours upon hours, days upon days to get the whole situation straightened out.

  • Yippee Huh?

We're in the same boat with DH's old car (the one I drive now).  It's a million years old and we try not to drive it more than 5 miles a day for fear of it exploding...

  • Does your car have rhythm? I'd like to hear that it makes bongo sounds to the beat of what is playing on the radio ;)
