HELP! Re-carpeting/Hardwood Floor

Hello!  My husband and I are putting our house up for rent so need to make the necessary repairs of recarpeting bedrooms and patching up parts of the hardwood floor.  Does anyone have suggestions for contractors/retailers or how to get it done quickly at a decent price?  Thanks in advance!

Re: HELP! Re-carpeting/Hardwood Floor

  • We used Carpet One and had all the floors in our house redone a few months ago.

The sales person was straightforward and seemed like a nice guy. I think they have several locations in the NoVa area. We used the Woodbridge location.

    Good luck.

  • We used Clawes Carpet in Fairfax to do our house, plus I've recommended them to a couple of other nesties who have used them. As far as I know, everyone has been pleased with their work and prices. For our house, they were less expensive than Home Depot and we got better carpet.

  • I strongly don't recommend Carpets & More in Sterling. Less than a year after the carpet was laid, it was full of ripples and needs to be re-stretched -- even in rooms we've never used. They were going to charge $400 to stretch the carpet. I refused and we still have the ripples -- on the stairs, in the hall, in spare rooms, in the basement. It sucks.

When we have extra money, we're going to find another company to stretch the carpet...but I refuse to give them more money when they didn't get it right the first time.

  • Thanks so much!  Will definitely avoid Carpets & More - yikes, so sorry to hear that!
