DOTD - Wednesday

Which social networking sites are most important to you, and why?

Me - Facebook. Hate Twitter. I'm on Linkedin for work, but am not active at all.

I rarely post status updates on FB, but I love to catch up with friends and family there (my younger sister and I have HILARIOUS drunk chats on FB). Twitter -- meh. I don't use it so I don't see the allure, but I love the 140-character limit to make folks' entries more pithy and to the point (since I ramble, I doubt I'd ever be able to make Twitter my friend).

Re: DOTD - Wednesday

  • Facebook.  I dont have a twitter account but my DH does.  When we are watching reality tv sometimes I have him check what people are saying on twitter like during American Idol.  It can be funny :)
  • FB, all the way. I like the mix of words and photos and I actually like the privacy settings and ability to hide people. Twitter, despite the character limit, is just too much too fast for me. And far more of my friends are active on FB than Twitter.

I'm also kind of addicted to blogs. A lot of blogs.

ETA - I have a LinkedIn account that I pretty much ignore. Every now and then I get an update email and I'm like "Wow, people actually use that for stuff?".

  • It's funny because up until about two years ago I was sooo anti-social networking in general. But now . . .

Facebook is probably #1. I use it to keep up with old friends (never have to go to another high school reunion!) and family.

Twitter and Pinterest are probably tied for #2. Twitter is good for keeping up with friends and bloggers, and contacting businesses and whatnot. Pinterest is just eye candy and full of good ideas and recipes (that I've actually been using lately!).

LinkedIn - meh. I''m on there but I really need to update my profile. I don't use it to its full advantage and I probably should but I can't get motivated.

I'm on Google + but after logging on once I have no idea what to do with it and only a few of my friends are on it so that's not really worth the effort right now.

ETA: Oh, right, blogs! That's probably up there with Facebook. I should update mine more often.

  • Facebook for sure for me. I love being able to check out the lives of all my friends from different phases of my life, all spread across the country.

I love Pinterest too, but if I had to chose one to give up, it would be Pinterest.

  • facebook is #1 for me too. i like that i can set the privacy as i want, block people, etc...

pinterest is #2 and since i've used it for several recipes and a few craft projects, totally worth the addiction ;)

i use linkedin for job searching/professional contacts

  • Facebook.

I can see Google+ being great once it gets going - but, it needs to hit that tipping point.

I love Pinterest as a time killer.

  • Facebook is the only social networking site I use... I love being able to see others' photos and that they're up to. I try not to use it as a replacement for calling close friends, but it's nice that I can write them a quick message that I want to communicate, but isn't necessarily important enough to warrant a call. Then again, that's what text messaging is for also.
  • Facebook.  I've had it since my freshman year of college, and it was a great way of keeping in touch with my friends who I'd just moved 2000 miles away from.  Now, I live 3000 miles from my college friends and 1000 miles from my home friends, so it is still a really good thing for me.

  • I don't count blogs as social networking, but OMG -- how could I have omitted The Nest?????!!!!!!

Srsly. I log on to work in the AM -- first, Outlook, then check my Intranet (hey, I designed it! it's fanfreakingtastic!) and then... FB and the Nest.

  • Definitely Facebook! I haven't been posting lately, but I love seeing my friends' & family's pics and what they're up to since we live so far away.

I'm on Twitter, and it can be fun - I got invited to play trivia at a local pub Monday night because I responded to something one of my local acquaintances posted. DH is much more active than me!

But, I'd rank blogs, Pinterest and the Nest above Twitter.

I'm on Google+ and I can see the benefits of it that Facebook doesn't have, but like pp's have said, I don't have enough friends on there yet to be active.

  • I think it's a tie b/w nest, bump, and FB for me

    I don't Twitter

  • Facebook. I use Linkedin for work only and I don't get Twitter - or have that much time to use/follow it.

  • facebook is #1 for me, definitely.

Then I'd put the nest/bump, pinterest and reading/commenting on blogs

    then LinkedIn

    then twitter

I am also on Google+ but haven't figured it out yet.

  • I'm probably most active on the Nest.  Facebook I look at every day, but I generally don't post very often (I guess I'm just nosy about what's going on in other people's lives).  I'm on LinkedIn, but I really don't use it at all.  I don't have a Twitter account and generally don't see the point in it, aside from tracking food trucks...

  • I look at facebook a lot but mostly during the weekdays as my job is home-based so I'm get bored and want human interaction of some form.  I have a twitter account but I've barely used it. I have a linkedin account but don't really pay attention to it until someone I know requests a connection with me. Have not looked into pininterest though I see a few friends have it. Recently I've been checking out the nest.

  • Pam, I love these questions!

Facebook for me. I really don't use any other social networking sites. Oh wait, does the Nest count? If so, then that would also be high up there!

  • Facebook is #1 for me.  Followed by the Nest, Bump, and another message board I'm on.

I haven't gotten into Pinterest, and am not sure I really want to.

I don't use Twitter and don't really see a point to it.
