Would you be annoyed

I called Kool Chevy at least two weeks ago to get our car checked out for a recall issue. Some cars need to be fixed and other don't. They know about the recall and since there are no more Pontiac dealerships left, I'm guessing we are not the first car to come in with this issue.

So this morning I drove across town to drop the car off there, took TH to work and now I have to go back to that side of town to pick it up. TH called and said that our car does need to be fixed and they don't have the part. We have to come back next week. WTH!!!   Wouldn't you think they would check into getting the part before this morning.

I'm going to call to see if they have a courstey shuttle and can bring him to work. I'm not going back to that end of town again.

Re: Would you be annoyed

  • Aw man, that's too bad.  Asking for the shuttle sounds like a good idea.

  • I just found a coupon for an oil change that I am going to ask to use. If they say they had to know about the coupon in advance than I am going to raise a stink.
  • You made an appt to bring the car in to have it fixed and they don't have the part?  Um, yeah I'd be annoyed.  I would speak to the service manager and explain the situation.  I would ask for the oil change for FREE to at least make it worth my time to drive out there.  Not cool.

  • Jim takes his car there, and they're normally great.  Let them know that you have only one day off, and that you need them to work with you on this.

    I'm sorry this happened today.

  • I'd be telling them to call around town to get the part. One of the local parts place has to have it I would bet. I would be annoyed.

  • I would be annoyed too...but from their perspective I can understand why things happened the way they did. They didn't know for SURE if your car needed this part, and they don't specialize in Pontiacs so it might not make sense for them to keep the part on hand. It would have been nice if they had been upfront about not having the part in stock and told you that today's check would be diagnostic only. Of course, that doesn't change the way it disrupted your day and that you'll have to make an additional appointment. That is indeed annoying.

  • I think that sort of thing is relatively common practice, unfortunately.  I have had a similar experience at a different dealer.  It is annoying though.  I really don't like having to get my car serviced (also on the other side of town for me) and trying to figure out how to get it their during their hours and then get to work or just sit around there and wait for hours.  Such a PIA.
  • I would be annoyed as well.  Tell them you want a loaner car for the day since it's a warranty issue and you need to come back a second time.
  • I would (calmly-maybe) explain the situation to the service manager and ask for a loaner car for next week. The dealers we have worked with have been more than helpful when issues like that arise. They want your return business, remember!

  • Now I'm regretting giving them TH's cell phone number. I wish I took the call instead so I could have let them know how I felt. It sounds like they assumed they could get the, however no one in town at all has the part. Umm..I called two weeks ago with the exact issue. Don't you think they could have at least check like Monday or Tuesday.I think I will still send a polite, but direct email.

They do have a shuttle service so I'm letting the husband deal with it...spilling drink out of mouth as I laugh.  In other words, when we get back from vacation I will have to call and reschedule the appt. This will eventually be my car, so I want to make sure it gets fixed.
