Adobe Illustrator: How can I learn?

HI Everyone-

I'm looking into learning how to use Illustrator.  No specific projects in mind yet, but I'd like to learn the basics.  Any suggestions of good books or online tutorials that I could use to learn it?

Thanks!

Re: Adobe Illustrator: How can I learn?

  • A lot of trial and error. I learned in college, mostly.

This looks like it has some good tutorials. And this one too.

  • Check out coyleart.typepad.com  Laura Coyle also has a YouTube station where she does tutorials.  And she teaches classes at reneepearson.com which I've taken and they are really great.

I know there is a book series on learning adobe through projects named Around the Clock.  I think that is about $50.  I used it in a photoshop class I took and it was nice to learn while making something.  Not the most exciting projects in the world but it helped me out.
