I feel like I'm living in -

The land of the kitty litter!

UGH!

We have 1 cat, but sometimes I feel like I live with an army of them. We have the litter box in the bathroom - we have a row of shelves, and underneath them, the litter box fits perfectly. It was almost like it was made for that purpose.

However ....

the kitty litter thats everywhere drives me flipping crazy. It's all over the bathroom, and then it comes out into the carpet, and then when we walk we track it everywhere! We have one of those carpet things that is supposed to catch the litter off her feet when she lands out of it ... there's def a TON of litter on it but it obv doesn't catch all of it.

What do you ladies do?

  • I feel your pain! I too have this very same problem.  I would like to know the answer to this as my cat manages to get kitty litter in the sink, bathtub and somehow in the toilet even if the lid is down. I feel like I all I do is clean the bathroom.

  • We switched to "Swheat" (pron. "sweet" even though it looks like sweat.:-< ) But it's discarded wheat husks or something, the same size as kitty litter clay flakes, but it has almost no traction whatsoever, which was great for us because we had to have boxes upstairs until I cut a hole in our basement door's corner, now we keep all the boxes downstairs.  But have you tried switching to a different litter? Those newspaper pellets don't track at all, but our cats' pee smells too strong for those paper ones. The wheat stuff works best now.

ps, dreamlover, what a pretty kitters, what kind is that?

  • Aww thank you!  She is a bengal cat.

  • We use the Booda Dome litter box (something about the little steps really works!) and put a mat outside of that. Solved our kitty-litter-everywhere problem :)

(before we got the dome, our one cat would actually jump out of the litterbox so she wouldn't touch the mat, and got the litter everywhere! lol) - the steps force the cats to slow down a little when leaving the box.
