We have 3 nephews and I am planning on making their Christmas gifts this year (we're expecting our own LO, so we're scaling back the spoiling). At Christmas they will be 6, 4, and days from turning 1. I'm making the two older boys the car mat w/ the town panel that was posted forever ago (bought the material in January).
What can I make for my youngest nephew? It doesn't necessarily have to be sewing. I don't knit or crochet well. Crafty ideas that involve power tools are also welcome. ![]()
This is a Deja vu moment. I may have asked this before, but I am suffering from pregnancy brain.
TIA!
Re: Ideas for 1 y/o boy
Does he like stuffed animals? Maybe you could make him a stuffed dinosaur or elephant? And matching PJ pants. Or a Color book. Just get scraps of fabric, sew them on to a big piece of solid, applique the color name on there and put all the pieces together. (I've seen this on Pinterest, I think. I will link if I find it again.)
ETA: Found it. They didn't pin the original post (drat) and I don't have time to find the particular post, but it was on the Living with Punks blog. If you go on Pinterest and search "Color book" there were a couple versions.

I SPY quilt!!! So much fun!!!
I did a disappearing nine patch ... not that hard - finding the fabric was more challenging and also a lot of fun!!!
Oh the beloved car mat
I am making LA one for Christmas this year!
For the little guy, what about puzzles. I know it is not handmade, but that is the age they start enjoying them. LA has several of these in various sets from Melissa and Doug. They are perfect for that age.
Classic blocks are another fun thing at that age

I think you are thinking of quiet books? This blog has a lot of ideas and links to several other quiet books, including some patterns. I'm making one for my son and some other babies in my life... I wish I had some pics with me.
