Poll: What is your leftover policy?

Do you eat leftovers?

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish)

What is your time frame on leftovers?

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round?

Re: Poll: What is your leftover policy?

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yes

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) Usually reheat it as what it was

What is your time frame on leftovers? 2 days after

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? I don't like chicken breasts or pork chops/tenderloin in the microwave.

  • Do you eat leftovers? YES!  I love them and honestly don't get people who throw leftovers away.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) Both--depends on what it is and how many times we've had that thing--oh yes, I'll do multiple days of leftovers--plus what else we have that needs to be used up.

What is your time frame on leftovers? Anything under a week is fair game.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? No absolutes on anything but I try to avoid leftover rice or anything fried--it's REALLY not the same as fresh.  But, maybe I'll make up a bigger batch of the food that is going to be fried and just fry it each night.

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yes...if there are any.  Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish)  Most of the time we just eat the leftover as is.  I think we've taken leftover meat and added it to salad, but I've never made a whole other dish using leftover meat/veggies/etc.

What is your time frame on leftovers? Things are generally used within 3 days.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round. Nope...as a result of growing up with money being tight, I really try my hardest not to let anything go to waste.  It drives my husband nuts because his parents were quite the opposite...they still overbuy and end up throwing a lot of things out or thowing something out after a meal.

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yes, and I'll go on record to say that I judge the shiit out of people who habitually throw away perfectly good food (I don't mean the occasional tossing of a partial serving of something, or trashing something that wasn't good to begin with...I mean whole servings of tasty food going in the trash).  And not just a little internal side-eye either...full on "I think less of you as a reasonable human being" judging.

This is one of my weird pet peeves.

    Obviously.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) - depends on what it is, how much of it there is and how much of it I've already eaten.

What is your time frame on leftovers? - Till it's fuzzy/slimy/a weird color/smells funny.   I might change this policy when we have kids...I always figure if I food poison myself it's not the end of the world, but I'd rather not poison a little person.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? - I try to avoid leftover anything breaded and fried because it's never the same again ('cept chicken.  I love cold fried chicken) - but I'll still give 'em a chance in the toaster oven and see what happens.

  • Do you eat leftovers?  Typically all leftovers from dinner are packaged into smaller containers for our lunches the following day.  I don't understand why most people practice this policy instead of going out to lunch every day.  It makes zero sense to me.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish)  See above

What is your time frame on leftovers?  Not really an issue since we eat our leftovers the following day.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round?  Nothing comes to mind.

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yup!

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) We usually reheat them for lunch the next day

What is your time frame on leftovers? They are usually eaten the next day, but two days is the max

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? french fries

  • Do you eat leftovers? yes

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) Usually we just re-heat them.

What is your time frame on leftovers? 3-4 days.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? Definitely french fries or anything that is fried. It doesn't taste the same.

Do you eat leftovers? yep, but H likes them way more than I do, so if there's just enough for one he'll eat them and I'll make something new

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) We always just reheat it as it was.  The only time I ever made it something new was I used the steak/onion/pepper mixture from a previous night's fajitas and added egg for a breakfast burrito.

What is your time frame on leftovers? a couple of days- maybe four or five

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? not really- we're fairly good about eating leftovers

  • Do you eat leftovers? I usually make just enough that we don't have leftovers, or it's so minimal that it's not worth keeping (like 2 bites of rice, etc).  When I do have leftovers, I usually take them for lunch the next day.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish)  Always reheat, but I have seen many take a chicken and use it for so many dishes after

What is your time frame on leftovers? IDK, I'm really weird.  Somethings definitely last longer, but I still have a hard time eating things that have been in the fridge for multiple days.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round?  Fried foods usually are blah!  Also some cream based dishes because the cream turns into full liquid upon reheat.

  • We eat leftovers, though there are times we don't eat it all before it's time to toss.

I don't generally make a basic grilled chicken, for instance, so it's rare that I "reuse" something into a different dish.  Usually the chicken's part of enchiladas or a pasta dish or something along those lines.  If I do have something more basic, yes, I'll put it into a new dish.

Time frame depends on the food, but it's generally only a couple of days.

I don't save/reheat cream-based pasta dishes like fettucine alfredo.  The butter ends up separating from the sauce during the reheat and it turns into a greasy, mushy mess.  There may be other dishes but nothing's coming to mind at the moment.

  • I feel really resourceful when I am able to use leftovers in another way...but I'm okay with going as is and having lunch the next day. We rarely, eat straight leftovers for another dinner...

4 days is the time frame.

French fries never get boxed up to go home but other then that I think anything is fair game. Oh, and after like a party...I want to throw all the food away, I don't want to save anything. The chips that have sat out aren't crisp any more, most food has exceeded the time temperature rule. I hate people helping me clean up because they try to insist "it's fine" when I want it gone.

  • Do you eat leftovers?  depends on what it is--my husband is a garbage disposal so he usually does the job

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish)  never

What is your time frame on leftovers?  one week

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round?  I will usually nibble on anything, I can't think of anything I won't eat as a leftover

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yup.  I almost always bring leftovers for lunch.  Saves me a ton of money.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) It depends. If we grilled a bunch of chicken and had it with rice and there's some leftover, I may throw it on a salad or something. but typically when I'm cooking and we're ready to eat, the first thing I do is throw a few servings into travel containers and let it cool while we're eating.  So I tend to eat  original dish.  This also has helped us learn portion control because there isnt' a huge amount of the meal to eat because it's been portioned out already.

What is your time frame on leftovers? A week give or take.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? I honestly can't think of anything. I'm sure there probably is but i'm drawing a blank.  In my house growing up we ate the leftovers until they were gone so I got used to eating all kinds of food reheated.

  • Do you eat leftovers? Yes. If we have leftovers I eat them the next day for lunch. DH *sometimes* does, but he is picky about leftovers (pet peeve) plus he doesn't always have access to a microwave.

Do you reuse into another dish or just reheat whatever it originally was? (ex: if you had leftover chicken do you just reheat that or shred it for another dish) Most of the time I just reheat whatever it originally was. Rarely do I make something that would be good in another dish (plain chicken breast or whatever...)What is your time frame on leftovers? Normally 2-3 days but there are some things that I'll eat 5 days later.

Is there anything you absolutely will not eat after the first round? Rice isn't very good as leftovers and I know I've come across a few dishes/recipes here or there that I tried but didn't enjoy the day after, but none come to mind right now.
