I went to my OB today and he is getting concerned about my weight. I'm actually 3 lbs down from my pre-pregnancy weight when he expected me to be 7 lbs up from my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm obviously doing something wrong here and I am not happy about it.
I honestly feel I have eaten plenty, I never ever restrict and I indulge in my favorite Ben and Jerry's whenever I want. I have NEVER lost weight without trying in my entire life. I'm average weight and if I don't eat right and exercise I gain weight pretty easily. I have no idea what is going on and I'm pretty nervous I'm harming my little guy.
Anyone else have any problems gaining weight in pregnancy and what did you do? Did it correct itself later in the pregnancy?

As long as the baby is growing fine and you know you are eating well, I wouldn't worry about it right now. Although this sounds terrible, it is kind of the truth, baby's are essentially parasites and will take from you what they need...that's my biology background talking. From what I have read, most of the weight gain comes later in pregnancy, starting after 20 weeks. In my lurking on the bump I saw a lot of people that have lost weight or barely gained any. I haven't been weighed so I really have no clue about myself.
Plus, you just had food poisoning. That could have put you down a few pounds.
Excellent point. I should try that. Maybe I can get it from buying discount veggies from Tesco at 9pm?

Thanks ladies. I'm not a crazy pregnant stress over every tiny thing type I promise, but my OB really freaked me out today. He wanted me to go see a dietician and start keeping a food journal?! Sounds like it is pretty common though.
He did say the food poisoning may have had a little to do with it, but not the 10 lb discrepency he was concerned about.
Tofu, if you want I can send you that cheese ravioli from the restaurant where I ate. I'm sure the e. coli will be extra effective once it gets to you.

And I promise to put the after-effects of said cheese ecoli ravioli up on youtube for your amusement.

I had front row seats to that show just a few days ago. I don't believe the second viewing would be any more enjoyable.

I lost almost 20 lbs in first tri, and gained a total of 25 back. I left the hospital still under my pp weight. I didn't start gaining steadily until 3rd tri. If the baby looks good and is healthy, don't worry about the discrepancy. You'll gain what you need to.
Food poisoning is a biitch!
Veggies won't work, sadly. Try the stuffed pastas. Those things are breeding grounds for bacteria!
I lost 5 or 6 pounds in my first trimester and have since gained it back. My doctor was never concerned and it is fairly common for women to lose weight in first tri as I understand.
I highly doubt you're doing something wrong. It's more likely that your weight is simply redistributing like mine did. I lost weight in my legs and hips, but my boobs got huge and I've only been gaining weight in my boobs and belly.
I'm really, really surprised your doctor seemed concerned about it unless you were underweight before getting pregnant.
Me too. I've never heard anyone say it was a problem except for women who are underweight. Lots of women lose in 1st tri due to barfing all day (for me, the barfing is more of a 2nd tri event...fun.)

I agree that you shouldn't worry. As long as your little one is growing properly than it should be completely fine. I also gained the majority of my weight in my 3rd tri. In total I gained 33lbs, but half of that was in my last month!
