Non-clicky poll: Clicky polls

What are your thoughts on special snowflakes?

Re: Non-clicky poll: Clicky polls

  • I hate them. HATE. Almost like how I hate old people. lol

If there were unlimited choices, this would be a NON-clicky poll. As it is a clicky poll, those are your options. Pick the best fit. If there is not a fit, start a s/o unclicky poll.

  • I think part of the reason it bothers me is because it seems like more potential conversation/posts could come up out of the special snowflake option. I miss when the board was busy. Maybe I'm just bitter.
  • I definitely agree with wanting more activity on the board.

And, yeah, not a fan of ss's in clicky polls as you can probably tell from my multitude of choices.

  • I love SS because I think it promotes conversation. If people actually do converse. What annoys ME is when people choose SS but their choice is covered in the list already, but they just want to tell everyone it was them and act like theirs is a special case, but it isn't.
  • Most of the time it's not necessary.. I feel like its just there some people to validate themselves as having a "differing" opinion.

  • I can think of several people on GPM that deserve a SS badge for life. Because that's how special they think they are. No matter how many times you go, yes, that is normal, that can totally happen, and you are not an exception, they think they are. So annoying.
  • I'm ok with them. If I can't find a close answer in the poll and there is no SS, I just don't answer the poll.

I do this too. I vote as close as I can. If there's no SS option, then I just leave it be. If there is, then I explain below.

I think it depends on how the poll is designed. If there are lots of options, you shouldn't need a SS option. If the designer puts that option in there, then they open it up to explanation. My biggest frustration is when people vote SS then don't explain.

That's kinda what I was referring to (not specifically people on GPM, but there are those people everywhere).

  • haha. I never vote SS. I will always pick the closest, and if there's another opinion (like, hating yogurt, hypothetically speaking...), I'll mention it.
