If you are ever on the fence for a cleaning lady....

Do it.   It is the best money I've ever spent.

Ever since I had 2 kids I've had a terrible time keeping up with things and it seems like I would start something then get called away.  (example:  clean toilet and then someone would cry, etc... then couldn't get to the other stuff)    She helped me so much that I can manage things until she gets here next week.    I've felt so hopeless trying to find time to get the 4 toilets cleaned in my house and now I feel like I can stay on top of things with a little help.

I really resisted and felt like a failure saying I need help with things.   If I would have known I could have sat in a clean house and have 100 less things to worry about then I would have done it sooner.

  • Ditto!   With working full time I love that my weekends are now spent doing enjoyable things with my family and not having the spend half a day out of my precious weekend cleaning.  Love!

  • Double ditto.  Best money spent.  We also hired out lawn service, which ironically costs more, but DH says its the best money spent. :)
  • We hire out our teeny lawn also, and its the best $ ever spent- It keeps me from having to nag my H to mow the lawn, he works outside all day so he doesn't want to come home and do lawn work ever. We would be fighting about it all summer. lol
  • I think I *almost* have DH convinced, though he's quite annoyed with me since he cleans the house an he's pretty proud of the work he does.  LOL!  Once he gets the master bath re-tiled, and the main bathroom painted/refloored,  I think I'll use those as my reasoning...to keep them extra clean.  :)
  • The minute we have room in the budget for a cleaning service, I'm getting one.

It's about all I can do to keep all the crap picked up and the floors vacuumed and swept.  Forget about dusting, cleaning toilets, scrubbing nooks and crannies and washing windows.  I'm home all day and I have no problem admitting I suck at keeping up with housework.  H and I would both be happier people if we could pay someone else to do all that crap.

  • I would just to hire someone to come clean my bathroom and do dishes. I'm fine dusting and picking stuff up, but those 2 items are what pile up!
  • The only thing I hate is laundry.  I love the cleaning part--it's stress relief for me.  Now, if someone would take over my laundry, we'd be set.

You can hire someone to do that!  We actually do a full clean once a month and a partial clean once a month (which equals out to them coming bi-weekly).  With the partial clean they just do the bathrooms and kitchen, and they always do the dishes that are in the sink.
