I am making a baby blanket as a surprise for my BFF who is pregnant. I am using the bridesmaid dress from her wedding (pistachio green- gender neutral) on one side, minky on the other side or this really soft fur type fabric that I bought but I'm kind of scared of sewing that. (I'm afraid it will get caught in the feeder (can't remember the real name of that part!) and foot) Then I am going to bind it with this

I have to run to Joann's tonight to get the binding but I was wondering if anyone has used this before and if it is hard to sew. I am somewhat new to sewing. Is one pack enough for a normal sized baby blanket? Also, if you have ever sewn furry fabric, any tricks or tips???
Thank you!!!
Re: Baby Blanket Binding/ Fabric
If it were me, I would use the fur, dress fabric and then do a satin ruffle - I love ruffles.
like this one.
You could sew the ruffle to the bm fabric and then sew the fur and the bm fabric (right sides together) leave and opening and then turn and hand stitch it closed.
I have used that satin binding and have never really figured out how to get the corners perfect. You have to make sure you catch both sides when you sew it.
ETA: Or, you could just cut two large squares of each fabric, sew them right sides together, leave an opening, turn, and stitch the opening closed without any binding.
Some of my kids favorite blakets are simple like that.
I'm worried ruffles will look too girly... would it? Also I stink at Ruffle (like the ruffle butt kind) are there premade ruffles for that?
I think I will follow PP's advice and ask them what to do.
I was thinking of just doing right sides together and flip... that might be what I end up doing!
The ones I have made for boys I do the ruffle shorter and not as ruffled and I would do a girl. A super easy way to do it is fold the satin in half, you could use the blanket binding but you would need 2 packages depending on the size. Use your longest stitch length and then turn your tension up as high as it goes, mine is 10.
It will ruffle for you! You can also hold the top thread and it will ruffle more.
Good luck.
