  • Never and never.

  • I was, but quit right after our wedding.

    H is still...heavily...sigh

  • Me-never

    H-yes, but he quit

  • I did and then both of my paternal grandparents died of lung cancer and I threw them in the garbage and never looked back. It is, however, a tell tale sign that I've had way to much to drink if I ask for a cigarette; I'll take 3 drags and then want to throw up.

Jay has been smoking since he was like 15, gross Sad He is in the process of quitting though and is doing a great job. I told him I would not have babies until he quit smoking for at least year; I have no interest in having that around my kids on a daily basis or having a husband who has to consistently go outside to smoke for 20 minutes while I deal with kids by myself.

  • Me- I smoked in college and HS but I wouldnt ever consider myself a smoker.

Andy- He was a heavy smoker until January 2008. He also used to use smokeless tobacco/chew and he quit that 14 months ago. It never bothered me but I'm proud of him that he has kicked those bad habits.

    Agreed! I get so mad.

  • Me:  Negative, though I will enjoy a clove cigarette if it is available.

Chris:  Negative, though he has been known to enjoy a "recreational" smoke every now and again...

**Sidenote**  Absolutely NONE of this is done around my daughter, and even if someone happens to be smoking around her, I will either ask them politely to move away (ie my father) or I will move her away myself.  And there is no smoking allowed indoors.  Ever.

  • I don't smoke, Andy does.
  • I smoked through most of college and post-college years, with some breaks in between.  Quit for good in Fall of 2006.

    H - never.

  • I am not. Eddie smokes the occasional cigarette, but always after I have gone to bed and outside.

  • I've never even tried a cigarette before. Josh has never been a smoker but he will enjoy a cigar now and then.

  • We both use to smoke occassionally in our college days, but we don't anymore.

That's what I figured. I would get annoyed before because he'd leave during movies(at home) or while we're out to dinner and it would piss me off, so I figured it would anger me exponentially more if there was a child to be cared for.

  • me: never

Before Scott and I met, he used to smoke a little when he drank.  The second night we hung out I told him I'd never date a smoker.  He hasn't smoked since.

  • Me: Nope. Never even tried cigarettes. My dad smoked/quit/smoking again, and it's just gross to me.

Danny: Nope. Not sure if he's tried it though. He may have, but never picked up a habit.

And to what MB said, my dad ALWAYS went outside or away from the kids (any kids) when he had a cigarette. I'm worried about when we have LOs, because MIL & FIL are both chimneys and smoke all the time. They gave us furniture and it took us 6 MONTHS to get the cigarette smell out of the fabric/air. Ick! I can't wait to tell them they can't smoke around my kids.....

Make sure they know that this is a fact and not an opinion; you should probably give them definitions so they can be sure, they will certainly appreciate them Wink

Oh don't get me wrong -- my dad has always gone outside to smoke too, and still does, but sometimes if we're all outside with Sam, he doesn't realize how the wind is carrying the smoke, and I have to ask him to move further away... he udnerstands.

Nope, didn't get you wrong at all. The big capital ALWAYS was more of a distinction between my dad and my ILs. Dad understands....ILs....well, like, Vanessa said, they may need some definitions. Wink

  • I did from when I was 16 to 22, and for a couple years after would bum the occasional butt.  Haven't had one at all in a few years.  DH did up until 1 year ago, but would mainly smoke at work or after a lot of drinking.  He never did at home or in his car.
