Hey y'all -
Do any of you do a second planting for fall? If so, what and when do you plant, and where do you get your seeds/plants? I am too late? Too early?
Yesterday I removed all of the broccoli, lettuce and kale (most of which didn't get fully utilized due to June and July travel and a new puppy... yay but urgh). I have the space and the desire.
Beans and peas came and went. Since they're cool crops I'm wondering if I can try these again?
I have dehydrated lots o' cherry tomatoes (I'm going to use them as sundried tomatoes throughout the winter). I have 2 big plastic grocery bags of tomatoes so far, and hope to do some tomato and/or salsa canning soon - also have beets to can and okra that I hope to pickle.
Thanks for any advice,
Sara
Re: Teach me about fall gardens
I want to do it this year, but haven't planned out what. I googled and found this: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/Fall-Gardening-Best-Fall-Garden.aspx
I know you can do lettuce in the fall, but beyond that, I havne't looked into it much.
I've been told you can definitely do another round of green beans and potatoes if you want to have new potatoes. I would say you could try lettuce again since it won't be super hot hopefully.
I know that next year I'm going to plant things in heats, 2 rows of something one week, 2 rows a week or so later-that way I have two batches of things instead of a ton of them at once.
