Re: HTT: "I'm expecting" status on FB

  • I think it's redundant. I mean, people who want to post about their pregnancies do so anyway (*ahem* like me...). So...what's the point? Well, it's better than creating a whole profile for the unborn.

I did not notice that FB has civil union and domestic partnership relationship statuses now, which this article also mentions. I like that.

  • I think they're making it a much bigger deal than it needs to be.  If people want to announce on FB, it's their choice.  All this "what if you lose the baby" and "it's too casual" stuff is none of the business of the interviewees.  And the idea in one of the comments that it's pushing teen pregnancy is utterly ludicrous.

I absolutely agree with this. If people are getting all up in arms over something like THIS, they need to find something else to do. If you don't like it, don't use it. And the feature won't make people more or less inclined to announce a pregnancy - most people [not you Rachel, promise] blast my news feed with "My baby is the size of a peach" or "OMG late night pickles and ice cream cravings LOL" anyway, so this won't be much different.

Yeah, that one made me LOL.

  • I guess I don't get why it's a big deal.  How is it any different than having a ticker on here?  While I can't say I would necessarily do it, I don't think it's a big deal.  If people can post about their poop and anything else they find they need to share, why not when you're having a baby?

Ovarian drilling and endo removed 1/3/12
    BFP - 3/27/12
    Beta's 11, 14, 57, 637, 2800
Sono showed no baby and teeny tiny sac. Waiting to M/C naturally.

  • I don't see the big deal with it, if you're going to announce your pregnancy on FB, you're going to do it how ever you want.
