BC making me crazy

Ok so i started taking a new type of Birth control two months ago called trisprintec. I think it is a generic for orthotricyclin.  since i started taking it i have noticed my emotions have totally been on edge. every little thing makes me cry and then i feel stupid for being so upset. also last month my period was ridiculous. im talking going through a super plus tampon in an hour and it lasted a long time after being five days late... so any suggestions? does this get better or should i try a different pill? my last pills ii was on two years was loestrin twenty four and i had no trouble with them until i started spotting in between packs a few months ago.  any suggestions to a good pill to switch to if i switch? this is making me feel like a crazy person and i think its scaring H. thanks oodles.

  • I'd ask your doctor to switch you to sprintec, the generic of ortho-cyclin. It doesn't wreak so much emotional havoc as it's the same dose for three weeks.
  • Hi,

I'm Anna and I'm new the nest.

We're on the same pill, and trust me you are not alone. I was even getting sick from my first pack, and breaking out with pimples and stuff. Like over night a black head would appear the width of a candle wick. My periods use to be light, and only 3-4 days. Now they are as heavy as the Carrie scene, and last just as long as the movie it feels :/

It's the cheapest one I can get right now with no health care, and no prime doctor.

So you're not going crazy. And I would talk to your doctor, because this stuff is not normal by any means.

  • Not all BC works well for everyone. It took me awhile to find one that worked for me. I also never took the generic form of any type of BC.

    Definitely talk to your doctor.

  • I am definitely going to talk to her if this does not get better, but I really was wondering if it would go away after a while because I have only been on it for 2 months.  I am just getting tired of the crazy range of emotions all the time.

I might go back to a one-level pill because thats the kind I was on before.

  • I feel so much better after going off bc after 9 years. i had chronic migraines and it only made them worse which no doctor ever told me how dangerous that is and how it puts you at greater risk for stroke.

I'm off now and doing fertility awareness and condoms. HIGHLY recommend. No mood swings, no headaches, no weird side effects... just getting to know my body in the way it is supposed to be--free of artificial hormones.

If you're curious, check out the Garden of Fertility book, it's great!

  • I think 2 months is enough to know a particular pill isn't working for you. I'd try a different one. Everyone is different - Yaz turned me into a big pile o' crazy, but then Loestrin (and the generic, Junel) has been great for me. And some people LOVE Yaz.

Also, don't let your doctor push you into a pill for no reason. Sometimes they have deals with the drug companies to push one brand or the other, but you need to be your own advocate.

And if the stormy weather came...I'd just kiss you in the rain... Daisypath Anniversary tickers image
