Clicky Poll: Weighing Yourself

Re: Clicky Poll: Weighing Yourself

  • I voted special snowflake because normally I would be a compulsive weigher. I would kind of average out my morning and evening weights and assume that my real weight was somewhere in between. Now I weigh a couple times a week for kicks, but I am pretty sure my scale is full of crap :) I once lost 5 kilos in one day according to the scale.

I think I want that scale.

My apparently accurate scale (gives same weight as doctor's and gym's) often has a 2-3kgs difference depending on the time of day.

This lead me to experiment with it and I noticed that I always weigh around 500gr less directly after a shower. I promise I'm not that dirty!

  • I'm lighter in the mornings as well - and I promise I never wet the bed.

    Very weird.

  • I never weigh myself because I don't think any good can come out of it, so I'm only weighed when I have a physical.  I just go with how do I feel overall and do my clothes still fit or are they feeling a bit too tight.  I'm actually a bit curious to know how much weight I've gained since being pregnant as I've only been weighed at 11 weeks.

  • I voted twice a week, which is about what I had been doing.  However, since my back has been screwed up and I haven't exercised in a few months (and my diet has gone to hell), it's been ages since I've stepped on the scale - I'm so afraid of what the number will be.

And I also weigh less in the mornings.  Conveniently, that's also when I would weigh myself ;-)

  • Now that I'm pregnant I weigh myself about once a week, but voted once a month because that's about how often I weighed myself before.  I'm not very interested in my weight.  I figure if I feel good and think I look good I don't need to worry about my weight too much.

  • I'm with Chebel--I only get weighed when I visit the GP. I've learned that if I weigh myself regularly, I don't treat myself very well, and it's therefore important that I don't focus on a number.
  • Once a day. I'm doing Weight Watchers right now and need to fit in the dress so I'm especially nervous.

It's usually once every other week or less.

  • At the moment, every other day. My weight tends to sneak up on me, and suddenly my jeans are squeezing the breath out of me and I'm thinking "uhoh..." So now I try to weigh myself more so I can remind myself why I make an effort to eat healthy!

  • DH and I have been working on getting fit so we weigh ourselves each morning just to check our progress. Prior to making the effort to eat better we maybe weighed ourselves a few times a year.
  • When I started working toward losing weight, my OBGYN recommended not weighing myself often.  He said twice a month was sufficient -- any more than that and it may just be a natural fluxuation, not real loss.  So I got in the habit of weighing myself on my payday -- I was paid on the 15th and the last day of the month, though I weighed on the 1st and the 15th.  Also, I only pay attention the results from my home scale, though I compare that to the doctor's office recorded weight.

  • Whenever I think about it, which is generally once every two or three months.
  • I voted less than once a month. We don't own a scale. Since being in Canada I've been weighing myself every morning though. I think I will buy a scale when I get back home, I want to keep up with my progress.
  • I can take the pain one step further.

I have the scale that measures your body fat.  For this scale you are supposed to weigh at around 6 PM.  You are lighter in the morning because you are dehydrated, but that would make the fat% measurement higher.

  • Since starting my weight loss challenge with DH and my best friend, I've weighed in once a week.  I was doing twice a week there for awhile, but I'd forget which weight went with which contestant...and it was a giant PITA.  So...only once a week now.  It helps me keep track of my progress as I lose weight, and has been a motivator.

I'm with aMrsin09.  I also have one that measures your body fat.  So, I weigh in the morning for weight, then again later after I've had 32oz of water and wait an hour, to get a reading for body fat.  The body fat part I probably only do a few times in the month though, because I forget.  Oops!

  • Historically, I don't weigh myself. I don't care about the number. I care how I feel and how I fit into my clothes, which I can figure out sans scale.

Then when I got pregnant with Bean, my SIL bought me a scale for my birthday, with a note about measuring the baby or something, but it was in Danish and I was really confused. I put the scale in a closet and if I thought about it, I'd step on it, mostly because my GP got really irritated if I didn't know how much I weighed when I saw him.

Then that closet became Bean closet, and Bean got older. And now when she goes in her closet to pick out her clothes every day, she weighs herself because she loves numbers and wants to prove to me she can identify them when they show up on the scale. Then she makes me weigh myself so she can read off some more numbers.

So lately, daily. But not because I care. :P
