I saw your post about your scale that does body fat... what's the brand and make of that scale?  Do you like it, do you find it to be pretty accurate?

Thanks!

Re: **amrsin09**

  • I have a Tanita ($$$) but I've had it for years and at the time they were the only ones to make them.  Weight Watchers does one, and so do a few other people.  The newer ones can also do water %s and be set for athletes, etc.

I don't know that it's 100% accurate, but if it is say 2% off, it will always be 2% off (if that makes sense).  A lot can effect the reading (such as how much you had to drink that day, if your feet are dirty, eating chinese food, etc)  But I'm sure it's closer than trying to do the calipur method on yourself!  So while it may be a few % points off, it is at least consistent if you keep the circumstances controlled (always after a shower, at the same time of the day, before you eat .. blah blah)

I like it because I build muscle quickly, so my weight tends to go up a bit at first which can be discouraging, but as long as the body fat% is going down, it's all good.  When I was really watching what I ate and was very active, I was a size 4/6, but still weighed 138 lbs.  IMO, for people who focus on the numbers, the scale gives you a new better number to focus on.

  • Now that I think about it.  I have two of these mean, evil scales.  One is the Tanita and since it was in storage when I moved to OZ, I bought a $35 dollar one since BIL didn't have a scale and I was trying to make sure I wasn't off the charts.  I should pull them both out and see if they give me even close to the same readings.

  • I'll check out Tanita, thanks! But I'd be interested to know if this other one gives the same reading, too!

  • OK!  Just pulled them both out and I will run the test tomorrow morning and page you.

Now, to find 4 AA batteries...
