Someone Stop Me Before I Kill an Armadillo

We have an armadillo invading our yard.

He's a little fuucker who dug a little hidey hole under one of the bushes along the side of our house on Saturday. DH & I immediately consulted Google, who told us that armadillos hate: cayenne pepper, moth balls & urine. Sounds simple enough, right?

To get rid of this thing we have:

-Peed in a cup & poured it down the hidey hole
-Tried to convince Kayne that Dachsund means "badger dog" and armadillos are quite similar to badgers (he wasn't buyin' it)
-Ripped up the bush to dig him out, only leaving us to believe that we'd suffocated him
-Found he'd dug himself out the next day & immediately cheered for our success
-Found another hole yesterday right next to the hole we'd filled in
-Poured an entire bottle of cayenne pepper down the hidey hole & in the surrounding area

I'm starting to get concerned that he's going to cause damage to our house! HOW THE HELL DO I GET RID OF THIS THING?!

Re: Someone Stop Me Before I Kill an Armadillo

  • A quick internet searched informed me that it has to be predator urine. They suggest coyote (have one of those handy?) or apparently there is a predator spray you can buy. Good luck!

ETA: I also read that they are likely digging for grubs. Kill the grubs and they lose interest.

We JUST signed a contract with Brandon Pest Control to take care of our lawn. So hopefully, that'll take care of it.

    Punkass armadillo.

  • Wow, Kayne is falling down on the job. Max pawed at one for hours one time until it dug itself out under our fence, which was a foot down.

  • Killing the grubs helps. We've had an armadillo problem since we moved in this house. We even tried to drown one out and it just sat there like it was NBD. My grandad attacked one with a golf club and it just lumbered off like it was saying eff that. They always come back. Sad

If you can catch him, you can have him.
