Granite Countertops

Anyone know a good way to polish granite counter tops? I've tried using regular soap & water, the special Windex, the special pledge, regular cleaning spray... we even spent over $20 on a special granite counter top kit from Home Depot, and it just made them even worse!! They are continually dull looking (they're black), and streak and stain very easily. My neighbors have the same counter tops, the same age, and they're always shiny and beautiful, what gives?

  • I suggest asking your neighbors since whatever they are doing is working.
  • I would ask your neighbors too, but regular soap and water works for us.

  • After trying what seems like every product out there the only thing i am happy with is the Scotch brand cleaner, comes in a can and you spray, wipe with a paper towel. They look amazing, and its so easy. Everything else either left me with streaks or took 30 minutes to buff on and off to shine and clean. Costco carries a 3 pack.

  • we use soft scrub kitchen cleaner with a soft cloth rag (like what you use to polish your wood)
  • For everyday cleaning I use a 1/2 vineger 1/2 water mixture in a spray bottle and to make them shine, I use Method's granite counter shine.  It is amazing and smells great too!  You can find it at target in a black  and yellow spray bottle.
  • Isn't vinegar too acidic to use on granite?  I love cleaning with it, but I would worry about it causing damage to counters.
