Bumping from my phone, sorry about formatting! Long story short we are so over our current company. Our roof was damaged durning one of the storms this year. Resulting in small hole in our roof as well as inside ceiling/wall water damage. adjuster #1 came out denying our roof claim but giving us money to fix the inside. Why give us money to fix that when you won't fix the cause of it!? He even said our roof looked fine, despite the hole was there. He said that souldnt effect the roof leaki. (Ummm sure whatever!) We thought that was crazy so we asked for a second opinion. over one month later adjuster #2 finally came by and said no to the roof again. We even had our roof guy (who will be fixing it once we figure out if insurance will cover it or not) here the second time around.
Here is the part that we don't get. The adjuster said he is going to write in his report that we have not taken care of the HOLE in our roof, therfore that is why we have inside damage. He said he will go as far to say we do not even take care of our house as a whole. Ummmm sure so all of the remodeling we have been doing the last two years has meant nothing. Sooo how can adjuster #1 say the hole is a non-issue but over a month (and far too many rain storms=more inside damage, yes we did tarp it) later #2 says we suck at keeping up with our house and should be DROPPED because we haven't fixed the 'non-issuse' hole!?
We are beyond pissed they can treat us like this, we pay in for a reason and respect our house. Maybe an outside opinon might make us see it differently??
We do know we are switching from State Farm...so who are you with and why do you love them?

Congrats to my super sweet BFPB, veronicafvr, She's a SEP '11 momma

We have Liberty Mutual for all our policies (home, condo, cars, umbrella policy and life) and like them.
My only complaint with Liberty Mutual is about their policies regarding dog breed restrictions for their homeowner insurance. They will insure one dog from the "high risk breeds" list, but not more than one. I think that's crap. Dog, like people, should be judges as individuals, it's not fair to assume all dogs of a certain breed are a risk for aggressive behavior. Our rottweiler mix is much less of a risk than all the poorly trained and poorly supervised dogs in our neighborhood of "nice family dog breeds". But, the dog breed issue is my only complaint.
Previous to Liberty Mutual we had AAA. Their rates were really good, but the service was horrible. Seriously. Really bad. I won't go into the details, but our experience was awful, enough to convince us to pay more to go elsewhere. We want to be insured by a company we trust will actually be competent enough to help us if we need to make a claim, and we did not feel that way with AAA.

Weird. We have State Farm and they were super easy to work with two years ago when a tree went down in our backyard and caused a hole in our roof.
Do you know the cause of the hole? I believe they will only pay for damage if it was directly related to a particular storm, and not general wear and tear. Did you call them out right away?
Huh, we have State Farm and really like it. We were debating switching to Allstate when we purchased our home. I've heard good things about them too.
Do you have pictures of your house before the storm to show your agent? Like a picture of where the hole in the roof is before the storm?
Our state farm agent said to periodically take pictures of your house (inside and outside), make sure there's time stamps on the photos and put in safe keeping.
