What an adventure! I started 2 hand pieced quilts earlier this year but haven't completed them yet. In April I purchased a new sewing machine (Janome DC2010) and have been taking the free weekly classes that came with my purchase. In May I found a site called fabshophop.com (hope it's okay to put that here) and started "hopping". I'm a teacher and have summer off so I had the free time to do it (now I'm addicted AND found out yesterday I won a $25 prize for the June hop). If you're not familiar with it, it's like a scavenger hunt and some months you "find" quilt blocks in the process.
June's shop hop featured the Celebration Sampler. I thought it was too cute and SO colorful. You get the individual block instructions as you find them but they don't post finishing instructions until the beginning of the next month. So, as soon as I found all of my blocks, I sat down to figure out approximately how much of each color fabric I needed (that was fun...yeah, right!) and went to work on the blocks. July 1st came and I got the finishing instructions...and finished the quilt yesterday
The featured blocks were supposed to be 9 1/2 inches...but mine turned out to be closer to 9 so I had to do some changes when finishing (fun for a beginner!). I think it turned out pretty good (there are some parts that I like and some that I don't like as much). I keep telling myself it's my first quilt.
The pic I'm posting was taken yesterday evening
and as I was looking at the pic last night, I noticed a mistake in the
piecing of one of my blocks. That frustrated me so much that I took the
piece out and turned it around. If you find the mistake, it's fixed
now
I just need hubby to agree to hold it up one more time for
another picture.
Thanks for reading!

This! Your quilt looks amazing.
Oh yes...lots of time with my friend the seam ripper.
Because the block sizes came out messed up I had to alter some of the purple borders (some of the short ones are 1/2 inch larger than others). I'm just happy that I stuck with it and didn't put it into the unfinished projects pile!
I'm going to be hand quilting it as soon as I get the new hoop that I ordered yesterday!
