QOTD

What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?

Did you take a trip? If so, where?

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?

Re: QOTD

  • I'm asking because our 1 year anniversary is coming up (in about a week and a half) and I have no idea what we are going to do for it.  But we have the top of our wedding cake and I really really hope that it is still delicious!

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? Neither my husband or I put much stock in making a big deal out or anniversaries.  I honestly dont remember.  I think we just went to dinner and a movie.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? N/A

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? Nope

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? Nope.  We had cupcakes at our wedding and they were so good that we didnt save any, we ate them all when they were still fresh :-)

  • We went to Toronto for a 3 day weekend (one of my favorite cities).  We splurged & stayed at a bed & breakfast, our room had a jacuzzi too, bonus.  We had a great time, it was also the weekend of the Beaches (one of the neighborhoods) International Jazz Festival & we had fun there too.  We took a boat ride & hung out on the Toronto Islands on Sunday, biking & walking around.

I don't remember if we exchanged gifts, that was 5 years ago!

Of course we ate the toy level of our wedding cake, and it actually was delicious.

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?  We went on a trip to Hawaii!

Did you take a trip? If so, where?  We went to Maui, Kauai & Oahu!

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?  Not really, the trip was our gift to each other, but he did buy me a really pretty necklace on vacation and said that was an anniversary gift!  His birthday is right before our anniversary, so I bought him an Xbox 360 and some games and told him it was kind of a combined gift.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?   Yes!  And it was quite delicious.  My mom wrapped it up good and stored it in her deep freezer.

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? The actual day we did nothing.  Boring!

Did you take a trip? If so, where? We took a trip about a month later to Savannah (this is when we still lived in ATL) and stayed at a nice hotel in Hilton Head.

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? We only exchanged cards.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? We actually ate the top layer of our cake about 2 months early due to the fridge dying and we had to save the cake!  It wasn't bad!

What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?  We went to Ann Arbor for the weekend. We went to the U of M vs MSU game, ate dinner at Real Seafood, and got breakfast at Zingermans the next day.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? Ann Arbor

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?  Not really, the trip was our gift to each other. We got each other cards.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?   Our baker made us a new top layer, and we enjoyed it!

What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? We went to Mackinaw. Technically it wasn't on our anniversary bc DH was on shut-down the week prior, but it was close enough.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? See above.

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? I think the trip was our 'gift' to each other. I can't remember any specific gifts (other than cards) that we exchanged.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? Yes we did! Surprisingly it was still really good, even though the hall we were at did a terrible job wrapping it (and we never bothered to fix the wrap-job, lol)

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?
We did a long weekend in Toronto.

Did you take a trip? If so, where?
    See above

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?
    Nope, just cards.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?
We did.  We took it with us to Toronto.  It was a tad dry, but still tasted good Smile
  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? Is it bad if I can't remember? It was only 3 years ago too. I think we just went out to dinner.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? No

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? Oh yes it's all coming back now....I made DH a scrapbook of our 1st year together. Only scrapbook that I have ever actually completed in my life!

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? Yes - our baker gave us a container to put it in and directions on how to unthaw it. It was delicious! It was a huge piece though and DH is not a huge cake fan so he made me throw it out after a couple days. he kept saying it was going bad. I was like, OK it's already a year old man!

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? we went geo-caching and had a picnic lunch at the park. We didn't find our geo :(  Then we went out to dinner.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? Not for our anniversary, but a little while after we went on a 'babymoon' in Chicago.

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?  No.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?  Yes! It was delicious!  Our wedding cake was cheesecake- our favorite.  Though it tasted great, I got sicker than sick from it.  That was the night I realized my pregnancy turned me lactose intolerant :(

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?  We went to Quebec City the weekend before (considered it our anniversary trip) and just went to dinner on the day of.

Did you take a trip? If so, where?  Yep!  Quebec City for the weekend.  We stayed in an adorable B & B!

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?  Yes, DH gave me a bike basket (the bike was a bday/anniversary present).  I gave him a book of some pictures.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious?  We didn't save the top of our cake, but I ordered a little 6" cake from the same bakery in the same flavor.  We ate that instead, and YES it was delicious : )

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? We got married at the Inn at St John's and spent the night there.  We had appetizers in their restaurant, went to Station 885 for dinner (we had our rehearsal dinner there) and then went back to St. John's to spend the night.  We spied on a wedding that was at St. John's that night, ate our cake and watched our wedding video.  It was a fun night.  Did you take a trip? If so, where? Not really.  Just to Plymouth.Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? Yup, we splurged.  I got a new camera and DH got an iPad 2.And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? We got a new cake from our baker.  It was awesome!
  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? Just went out to dinner.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? Didn't go on a trip, wanted to but we were saving for a downpayment so we couldn't afford one at the time.

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? No, we just went shopping together and picked out what we each wanted. Though honestly I can't remember what either of us got.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? No, we didn't even bring it homw from the hall.  The hall manager told us that she had given it to my mom but all she gave my mom was the topper so we had no cake, oh well probably would have been gross anyway.

What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary?  We planned a trip a few weeks early over our Christmas break to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for a week.  On our actual anniversary we went to a movie and to a nice restaurant for dinner.

Did you take a trip? If so, where?  See above.

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what?  The trip was expensive and so were our plans for the day.  We still gave a $20 item following the Traditional Gifts for anniversaries.  It was paper so I gave DH an autographed photo of Placido Polanco before he was traded and DH gave me a gift certificate (on paper) for a massage.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? Yes and it was still pretty tasty!  MIL did a great job of wrapping it up.

  • What did you do (or what do you plan to do) for your first wedding anniversary? We went to dinner at 5ive, the restaurant at St. Johns where we had our wedding reception.

Did you take a trip? If so, where? Not specifically for our anniversary

Did you exchange gifts? If so, what? I don't think we did.  I'm not sure we ever have for anniversaries, now that I think of it.

And most importantly, did you eat the top layer of your wedding cake? If so, was it still delicious? We did eat it, but not for our anniversary.  We needed some room in our freezer about 2 months after our wedding, so we polished it off.  I remember being a bit disappointed because it had dried out a bit.
