Anyone play tennis?

Wooo!  It was not a super (sweat-my-boobs-off-and-scream) hot day!

Lucas and I walked from our house down to Walker-Johnson, around there, and back tonight.  MUCH needed for both of us. But to the point of this post...

There were a bunch of women showing up for a tennis 'practice' of sorts at the courts.  The age ranges varied from mid/late-twenties to early 40s from what I could gather.

I miss tennis.  I played in high school and was good, but that was 10+ years ago.  I haven't played since college and would like to do it again.  I guarantee I would totally suck now given my shoulder, but it's worth a shot!

Anyone play?  Or even want to learn?  It would be nice to get together and have some time in the fresh air.

Re: Anyone play tennis?

  • Tennis is something I've always wanted to learn how to play, but scheduling right now would be a nightmare!  Hope you find someone to join you, though.

  • I love to play tennis!  It's hard to find someone else who knows how and/or wants to play.  I also played in high school and pre-kids :) when we were first married.

There is a Greater DM Tennis Assoc. that has a ladder for singles and doubles -- they probably get it started at the beginning of the summer.  I wonder which group was at the park today?

I'm game for dusting off a few yellow balls!!

  • I am seriously out of shape and have only played a handful of times since high school (varsity but don't let that fool you), but I'd be game to hit a few balls around if anyone wants to put up with my sorry butt. I also work a lot of evenings and weekends, so I'm a pain to schedule anything with, but I'm willing to see if we can find a time that would work.

Oh, and someone would have to come over here and find my tennis racket. I have no idea where I put it when we moved in... 7 years ago.

  • I play but I'm probably out of commission for the rest of this summer and fall.  Next spring I hope to get back into it.  My game's okay but my serve has definitely suffered from lack of consistent play.  I love tennis, it is such a great game to play!

Exactly- same here.  Would love to try and get out next spring also!

  • Oh fun!  So glad to see some other ladies are willing to join me!  Maybe once the weather cools off a bit we can schedule a night (even just 30-60 minutes) to get together and warm back up into it!

Or even a Saturday morning?  If it worked, the husbands could take the kids over to the park to play while we goof off on the court for a bit.

And for you other gals, I'd still be happy to play again in the spring :)

  • I used to play back in the day in high school and when we lived in Mason City, belonged to the tennis club. Brett won't play with me - he thinks the object is to see how many times he can hit over the fence.
